It doesn't matter if you played it on the SNES or GBA. This is a Fantastic Platformer Game and should not be ignored. Amazing Graphics, Challeging Gameplay, and great Controls. You will love it. Trust me.

I often don't like prequels, mainly because they don't give me anything truly NEW to the story, only stuff I usually don't care about. Yoshi's Island is different. Combining the brilliance of previous 2D Mario gems with an extremely unique (for its time) art style, Yoshi's Island stands as a true classic that never slows down. Each world is something truly new and exciting, and the tons of power-ups and bonus point opportunities keep you coming back. I'd honestly say it's more ambitious and overall better than Super Mario World, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that. Awesome music, lengthy adventure, and the greatest side-kick in video game industry; what more can you ask for?

This is still my favorite Mario game for the Super Nintendo. It eliminates the whole super mushroom system with a simple time limit mechanism. Although baby Mario's cry can sound annoying, the childlike setting makes this platformer one of the more innocent Mario games from Nintendo. The bosses are especially challenging, but it's so incredibly fun to fight them with Yoshi.

If you look up "charming" in the dictionary, they'll have a screenshot of this game. Besides the audiovisual splendor that this game conveys, it's also got some solid gameplay and a ridiculous number of levels and extras sprinkled throughout this difficult quest. One of the best sidescrollers ever made and it plays totally different from most Mario games! Now go touch fuzzy and get dizzy!

Nintendo really outdid themselves here when it comes to level design and creating new and interesting mechanics, and I'd say that as far as 2D gameplay goes it never got better than this for the series. Even though YI focuses more on item collecting than previous games, it is done in a way that makes it much more rewarding than any other game of its type that I've played, and I was obsessed with fully completing each level. The game is full of memorable moments and I like how new elements are often used only for a particular level to make it stand out more. It's a shame less effort was put into the sequels. Gripes? Well, it was pretty disappointing to get everything and have the game barely even acknowledge it.

"Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island" is an epic 2D platform game with an outstanding graphical style and lovely designed levels. The soundtrack is awesome and the gameplay great. It is very addicting to collect every item in the levels to get the best score and there are some stunning boss battles. It may not have the high amount of different levels and secrets as Super Mario World but the developers made sure to offer constantly high quality and fun levels (quality over quantity). I got this game in my childhood, bundled with the SNES console. Overall, this is truly a great game but I find Super Mario World very slightly better.

An inventive platformer but definitely a different beast than Mario World. Even though it is disgustingly cute, the graphics really do look amazing. Too much crap to collect though, even if most of it is optional.
