Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is an open world action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released on 26 October 2004 for the PlayStation 2 console, and on 7 June 2005 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox. It is the seventh title in the Grand Theft Auto series, and the first main entry since 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. It was released on the same day as the handheld game Grand Theft Auto Advance. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is played from a third-person perspective in an open world environment, allowing the player to interact with the game world at their leisure. The game is set within the fictional US state of San Andreas, which is heavily based on California and Nevada. The state of San Andreas consists of three metropolitan cities: Los Santos, based on Los Angeles; San Fierro, based on San Francisco; and Las Venturas, based on Las Vegas.     Oh great, now only the remastered version is available on modern-day systems. Or...wait, was the original version even available for PS4? I can't remember. George Lucas erased my memory.

    There was a long time in my life when the only thing I did in my spare time was to play San Andreas. The amount of stuff that you could do in such a massive world was unrivaled until the recent release of GTA V. I recall having a lot of fun just pissing of the cops and having them chase me across the whole map. The soundtrack is probably my favorite from the entire GTA series, K-DST & Radio X was the shit!

    It's got some humor and it's impressive how big it is. However, it's very frustrating that every time you lose a mission, you have to find the person again and talk to them, and then do the whole mission again. This might feel fair if it were an easy game but it isn't. The controls for driving and shooting are very bad as well. The way the camera is angled makes it hard to see while driving, and this is before R2 was accelerate in games so you can't move the camera and drive at the same time. Plus it's got that gangsta feel that I have a hard time with (apparently gangsta is a real word wtf?). I know it's ironic and it's grown on me though. When I was little that gangsta feel made this my least favorite game period. The minimap is kinda hard to see too and there's no arrows on the road like Chinatown Wars and Simpsons Hit and Run, so oftentimes I'm looking at the minimap, not the game, which makes it hard to drive.

    My first GTA, and my favourite (inevitable bias here though). San Andreas had a fantastic story littered with interesting characters with top notch acting. Everyone is quirky, different and funny in some way. The range of vehicles were fun to drive. The range of locations spread across 3 cities and different environments made the area feel huge at the time, and the varied nature of it all made the game consistently fresh. The music and radio stations were fucking fantastic too.
    I think the one thing that will let this down for newcomers now is the low graphical standard. The graphics are dated. That's probably my only criticism for it now. Everything else is still top notch.
    Bloody great game.

    This game is chock-full of funny moments. It's more than just another gangster game--it's a slick satire about the rampant gang activity in Los Angeles. GTA: San Andreas is one of the coolest action games ever made.

    Best Grand Theft Auto game ever, most advanced mechanics, most up to date, a very engaging story and a mind-opener for me to the urban culture when I was afraid of media in that setting.
