Editing … ha! so true. Gamecube and Windows are prime offenders. PSP when it starts a game can be pretty loud too. Funnily enough I don't remember what the Switch Lite startup sound is. Maybe it doesn't have one, in which case kudos to Nintendo. Vita doesn't have one either I think.

Editing … Switch Lite and the Vita didn't really have one. That surprised me. Maybe everyone got sick of putting those on portable systems.

Editing … speaking of which, I necro'd a conversation on the Vita page, but it's one you hadn't posted in, so I thought I'd let you know: https://www.favslist.com/conversations/1088633/

Editing … That conversation reminds me--Tales of Hearts R was an effing Gamestop exclusive for the Vita in the United States. That's the weirdest idea ever. On one hand, Namco's JRPGs don't sell as well outside Japan, so it was probably okay to test that idea out. However, they did this on the Vita, the one system that almost no one bought. So now those game cards sell for $70 in the States. That blows.

Editing … The game has random battles, sooo..... (but then again, I have Tales of the Abyss on 3DS and Tales of Vesperia on the Switch, neither of which have random battles but they still didn't hold my interest. It doesn't cut it in my book to have every encounter simply involve walking right a bit and mashing the attack button.)

Editing … Vesperia was the most polished game in the series. I'm pretty sure that it made the most refinements with the battle system, the music and the overall atmosphere. So if Bonnie Pink's intro couldn't get you hyped, then this series probably isn't for you. I mean, I tried to beat at least one Tales game, but my only copy of Vesperia is on the Xbox 360 so...yeah. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve4LqfqpdSE

Editing … In general, I'm not a Tales fan. That series became extremely formulaic over time. It peaked in quality with Vesperia and Xillia. And even then, I still had gripes with those games.

Editing … I admit I considered giving Vesperia another chance, just because the battles looked very cool in 60 fps. I can imagine it getting pretty crazy later on.

Editing … Lots of intros get me hyped. But then you start playing the game and it's like "oh it's like some second rate super nintendo RPG." And the intro begins to feel like false advertising.

Editing … Yeah, Vesperia saved the series, in my opinion. I know some people liked Symphonia, but I tried to finish that game. The battles at the end are frustrating as hell. And the English voice acting really, really grated on me near the end. And I hate that stupid kid with the Kendama. What kind of f***ing weapon is that? It's a f***ing Japanese toy! HRRRGH. The Wii sequel was even worse, because Lloyd turns into a total jackass. What were those developers thinking?

Editing … So Tales is cursed. But I liked trying out Phantasia back in the days, even if the Game Boy Advance was absolutely broken. And Indignation is the funniest spell name ever. Lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbmCKT3XSAU

Editing … well vesperia has that dog that smokes a pipe. I was actually surprised it didn't talk, although it does appear to understand human language.
