Assassin's Creed II
Assassin's Creed II is a 2009 historical fiction action-adventure open world stealth video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the second major installment in the Assassin's Creed series and is a direct sequel to Assassin's Creed. The game was first released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 2009, and was later made available on Microsoft Windows in March 2010 and OS X in October 2010. Several minor game related features could be redeemed on Uplay and three downloadable expansion packs were released on Xbox Live. The frame narrative is set in the 21st century and follows Desmond Miles as he relives the genetic memories of his ancestor Ezio Auditore da Firenze. The main narrative takes place at the height of the Renaissance in Italy during the 15th and early 16th century. The player can explore Florence, Venice, Tuscany and Forlì as they guide Ezio on a quest for vengeance against those responsible for betraying his family. The primary focus i. …

Saved!Assassin's Creed II completed for another year :D Still absolutely love that game. My all-time faves game list is pretty solid if I do say so myself. They all stand up to multiple playthroughs for the most part and rarely ever fall in rank, they usually climb if anything :)
-
Saved!Every time I play this game it makes me fall in love with the franchise all over again. And to be fair, besides three entries, I love them all. Origins looks awesome, so I can't wait to try it. Gotta try Syndicate first though, but that's a ways off. Still replaying them all and I STILL haven't finished 2 XD Although I am now on the second DLC, so not long to go now! :)
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Gonna be starting Syndicate myself soon, got sent a copy \o/ - finally won't be behind on the series! Until, like, October.
-
Saved!Travis GreenEditing … The Origins trailer actually got me excited to return to series for the first time in a while. I gave up on Black Flag, because the ship combat was pissing me off too much, and I was getting absolutely sick of tailing missions, and haven't returned to the series since. I probably won't retry Black Flag, due to the ship battles, but I may actually try Unity and Syndicate at some point, in preparation for Origins, because the new combat looks pretty sick!
-
Saved!Splatterhouse 5Editing … I've never given this series a fair shake. I've only started up the first game, and got sidetracked with other games along the way. The concept seems interesting, but I can't seem to stay focused on it. I do hear that the 2nd game is the tits though.
-
Saved!Travis GreenEditing … Yeah, from my experience II is by far the best: It brings in more varied missions and gameplay than the original, while not falling into any of the pitfalls some of the later games have. Brotherhood is also really good.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … I also really liked Rogue. That, 2 and Brotherhood are the best in my opinion
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Rogue's story was definitely a lot more interesting than Black Flag's. I'd actually say Unity is underrated, hated for its launch disaster more than anything else. I found the AnvilNext games after III to lack polish in the animations and combat department, and Unity, post-patches, is honestly more polished than they are. Only bug I can recall experiencing was one time I got stuck in a wall, and as an open world game, one bug in over 30 hours is perfectly acceptable. Hell, I fell through the floor once per Mass Effect game. Yeah, every single one of them.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … I'd say Unity is a pile of shit, with awful combat, underutilised setting, boring side missions and a comolete lack of freedom in assassinations. But that's just me.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Mmmm, all those building interiors, opportunities for mass murder with the large crowds (while multiple civilian kills in a row will desync you, multiple kills at once will not). Mysteries to solve, some with zero map markers. The combat wasn't changed very much from previous games, guess they made it a little bit harder, but it's still the basic one-man-army easy kill combat.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … I just remembered that I never beat Freedom Cry. Thinking of mass murder in AC made me remember how I'd carry explosives at night to the auction stands (NPCs will approach explosives, but will flee if they're placed near them), and kill as many white people as I could with one chain blast. Nice. How was Freedom Cry?
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … Freedom Cry was okay I think. I don't really remember it.

271072a wrote his opinion about Assassin's Creed IISaved! This game is everything you would want in a 7th gen game. You can kill people, you can enjoy an anime reject story, and you can be a spiderman wannabe. However just because it checks off all the boxes it doesn't mean it does any of them well. The combat, and stealth are the two biggest factors of the game. While stealth is what the main focus of the game it can be completely ignored, and this one of the big problems I have with the game. Walking around the enemies, and bludgeoning the target makes you feel like an assassin. However this is taken away when you can just ruin straight through the enemies, and rush the target. Sometimes it is just easier to just rush the bad guys because you run faster than anyone in the game. Also the game is repetitive. It follows the formula of learn about baddies then help summon then kill baddie. While they give a motivation for each kill the characters all seem to be evil for the sake of evil. The movement in this game is pretty good.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … I don't think stealth is the main feature of the game. Isn't AC just an action series?
-
Saved!271072aEditing … If it is an action series it still sucks because the combat is so bad. Every time I am in combat I just try, and run away because it is pretty much pressing one button then dodging until everyone is dead. I assumed it was a stealth game because most of missions in the game involve a stealth aspect like staying hidden, or killing a target without being dying. You never feel like a badass like in Assassin's Creed Black Flag which is definitely more action than stealth.

-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … That moment when I'm walking through Boston in Fallout 4 and start noticing all the places I've been in real life... http://i.imgur.com/VwGRoK2.gif
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … But I wonder how realistic devs actually make them? I've been to the Reichstag and the Call of Duty version was done really well.
-
Saved!PuddingEditing … Wasn't a brag post. If I truly wanted to brag, could have gone bigger than that, but all I wanted to say is that for all the faults AC series has, it does a remarkable job of recreating actual locations and obviously a lot of work goes into researching the locales that are in game.
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … You going to do the full ACII tour while you're there Pudd? Monteriggioni's worth a visit and San Gimignano's really awesome to see. It's not in AC2 but I really recommend Siena as well. They're not far from Florence, you can visit all three in a day.
-
Saved!PuddingEditing … Got back this week, actually. Didn't get to visit those locations, unfortunately, but what I did get to visit was, aside from Florence: Rome, Venice, Monte Casino and Naples (Pompei). Was an awesome experience that had my mouth agape a whole lot of time. Hopefully next time, reny! EDIT: Forgot about Vatican!

Pudding wrote his opinion about Assassin's Creed IISaved!Assassin's Creed II is a bigger and better game than the tech demo that was the original AC. Unfortunately, it is also a sequel and not a reboot of the franchise, which means almost all of the bad design decision that were a staple of the original are back again. Interestingly enough, the further it moves itself from AC and closer it gets to PoP the better it is.
Pros: Optional assassinations and tombs come close to capturing the feeling of the Prince of Persia trilogy, highly detailed and numerous locales, good music, welcome exploration and gameplay diversity, Desmond's storyline and Animus crap are heavily reduced...
Cons: ...but both are still there, free movement is flawed, bad combat and AI, too easy as the game almost plays itself, irritating Animus effects, poor sound design lessens the impact, loads of padding and repetition, writing and voice acting often fall flat, artificially locked out parts of the city, a ton of stuff to collect with little pay off, out of place QTEs-
Saved!Rich .Editing … Nice review, seems we have the same take on the AC series. The animus and Desmond are annoying, the combat's weak, the free running could be better but there's a lot of potential and if it tried to be even more like Prince of Persia (and maybe borrowed some stealth from Splinter Cell) it could be great.
-
Saved!PuddingEditing … Completely agree. Instead of expanding the content, they should reduce it and focus on the gameplay, bringing to closer to the PoP's foundations.

Sha Ember wrote his opinion about Assassin's Creed IISaved!I finished my second Assassin's Creed! It was better than the first but the story hasn't improved since...until the very end of the game. Why?! The ending is excellent, why couldn't it be better during the whole game? But hey, regardless of the mistakes, I enjoyed it after all. Next is Brotherhood. :)
-
Saved!Gries HeEditing … Skip Revelations, III, Unity and all handheld ACs. Play Black Flag and Brotherhood.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Don't skip Revelations, I'm certain you'll love the ending there as well.
-
Saved!VolTRHEditing … Don't skip III, I personally enjoyed that one a lot more than II and is definitely my favorite of the series so far. (have only played the main trilogy)
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Just don't skip any. Play 'em all, even if one isn't particularly special.

DJ_JJSlider wrote his opinion about Assassin's Creed IISaved!Assassin's Creed 2 improved every part of the original game. It finally built up a science-fiction storyline that lived up to everyone's expectations. The game world is humongous. The side quests are much more challenging and entertaining. I honestly wasn't expecting much out of this series, but this sequel truly immerses people into the sneaky lifestyle of a covert assassin.
-
AdmiralMikey wrote his opinion about Assassin's Creed IISaved!A huge step-up from its predecessor. ACII builds upon the original's climb-anything, assassinate-anyone gameplay by injecting a charismatic new hero (Ezio!) whose life you follow, growing up into a master assassin across a beautifully realized Renaissance-era Italy. Perhaps the biggest improvement is the mission structure, which gives you a variety of tasks to perform rather than the monotonous repeated missions from the first game. This game is the current pinnacle in stealth-action gaming.
-
IceTheRetroKid wrote her opinion about Assassin's Creed IISaved! This game is brilliant, as a spiritual successor to the Prince of Persia series, this game carries a delicious amount of tropes from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and I am in love with it. The platforming, the combat, everything just suits my mood. Fixing the rocky start that was Assassins Creed, the sequel just made the formula exciting and immersive. I'm addicted to the platforming like I was in Sands of Time, I love the atmosphere, the story is solid and the entire game just puts me in an epic experience. It warms my heart to know that Ubisoft Montreal has come so far from being a low-class licensed game developer to something that makes Ubisoft tons of $$ with modern classics like this.
