Saved!Really good game but has two major flaws, having no in game editor and breaking mods at will.

Saved!SandvichEditing … Ironic that these games depict centuries worth of human advancement, cuz Firaxis has held back humanity by at least 20 years. -
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … ^I don't play Firaxis games but oh snap. Shots fired eh? =p -
Saved!SandvichEditing … Their games are basically crack for Windows. I'm pretty sure we're not living in the 2015 of Back to the Future Part II solely because of the addictiveness of Firaxis Games. -
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … D'oh, I misinterpreted. =P Maybe I should give the games a shot. I'm always down for some crack. Crack is a-o-k. -
Saved!ExplojinEditing … Crack is whack -
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … don't do drugs pls

Saved!I look at the mods, and all it is is cute anime girls. I am very pleased
-
Saved!Just discovered the existence of the 3rd and 4th unique component mod. Time to go spend more of my life on this game.
-
Saved!I dunno why, but whenever I play a RTS / TBS / construction sim where I get to create my own scenarios and tweak the way how I want to play against A.I., I will always choose the biggest map size and play on a single map for 20-40 hours.
I did this with Sins of a Solar Empire, Banished, Sim City 1-5, Cities Skylines, Theme Park 1-3, Civ 1-4 etc. And now for Civ 5.
It's just how I enjoy my PC games.
And it doesn't matter, if I hit a lose state early on, I still want to see how the simulation goes from there.
Take my (only) Civ 5 savegame (so far) for instance: Some other faction won the game after like 5 hours via building the United Nations (diplomatic victory), but now 15 hours later after already having researched everything there is to research, I'm slowly trying to annihilate the French, Turks, Germans, all of those bastards and go take a shot at world domination. Imma nuke those fuckers.
Ah, the joys of crushing your enemies, seeing them driven before you and hearing the lamentations of their women. Gaming can be so much fun! -
John De Luca wrote his opinion about Sid Meier's Civilization VSaved! It's like a board game that sets itself up,SO many possibilities and options it's great!

Dr Eggnog wrote his opinion about Sid Meier's Civilization VSaved! The concept of making the best civilization is simple enough for anyone to grasp, but there's a lot to learn. All of the game elements feel rewarding and worthwhile. Eight difficulties make it perfect for any level. The presentation is pretty and endearing. The game can be played again and again and essentially never ends, and if the basic game gets boring, there's scenarios and mods. Most of my top ten games get there through a deep emotional attachment or a lot of dumb fun and excitement. This one does it through fascinating, intricate gameplay.

Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … From what I've played of IV it seems really good too and I can see why some would prefer it, but I think I'll end up liking V best when all is said and done. I like the prettier graphics and the health bars and lack of unit stacking, plus cities that can defend themselves, and city-states.

Saved!I got Bejeweled 3 forever ago and I've put in 15 hours. I got Civ V 12 days ago and I've already put in 30 hours, and that's not counting the time I've spent reading about the game and watching Game Grumps play it, plus the hour I played IV. This shit's addictive. I'm getting to the point where I understand all the basic terms and concepts fairly well. Once you understand the significance of everything and you're not just clicking on things because "hey that sounds cool" it gets really exciting. I believe I'm going to be winning my first game on difficulty level 3 tomorrow.

Saved!Gries HeEditing … Is this your first time with a strategy game or did you have prior exposure to this genre? -
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … I've had this on Steam for a year or so now but I've only played it for an hour and I couldn't get into it. I should maybe give it another go. -
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … @ Gries, I also really like Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions and Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes, but I'd say I'm still fairly new to the genre.

Saved! In the first Civilization, there was a glitch that made Ghandi really love using nukes. His nuke love has been retained throughout the series. In V, his AI has a hardcoded Nuke Protection and Use of Nukes rating of 12. The max rating is 10.

Saved!Gries HeEditing … The Civ games would be so much more entertaining, if they weren't turn-based imho. -
Saved!ErektionsiteEditing … I'm glad that they are turn-based. Real time strategy is my least favorite game genre by far, it is way too stressful for me. -
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … Yeah I've played Colonization for about two seconds just to see the interface. I think it's cool that it's a remake of the first game. The only RTS I've really played is Plants vs Zombies, which is basically just beginner stuff. I had The Lord of the Rings: The Battle For Middle Earth when I was little, but as a kid I didn't get it. I was like "Why am I point and clicking these little people around? This isn't immersive or exciting. Spyro the Dragon is more badass than this!" Also, my computer says immersive isn't a real word. People sure use it a lot nowadays. Anyway, I think the turn based nature is part of what makes it so addictive. The turns are short enough that it never feels like you shouldn't go for another one. The games are so famously addictive that there's a joke Civilization Anonymous site online. -
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … Ah, WatchMojo just informed me that Plants vs Zombies is more tower defense than RTS. I'm learning, I'm learning. -
Saved!Gries HeEditing … My main gripe with Civ is that it's just flat out boring and once you've played one map for about 2 hours you've seen everything there is to do. You research stuff, then all your soldiers move around a bit and that's it. It's too repetitive and the gameplay loop isn't all that great. -
Saved!Dr EggnogEditing … I expected to find it boring, and maybe I'll get burned out on it, but right now I think it could become one of my favorite games. I've technically only completed two games so far though so who knows. I've done as much reading about the series as actually playing it so far. Civ reminds me of chess, cause chess is always worth playing once in a while as long as you can find people above or around your skill level. It doesn't matter that it's always the same game because each decision matters so much.
