Resident Evil
Resident Evil, originally released in Japan as Bio Hazard (バイオ ハザード, Baio Hazādo?), is a survival horror video game developed and released by Capcom originally for the Sony PlayStation in 1996. It was later ported for the Sega Saturn and Microsoft Windows platforms, and re-released for the Nintendo DS and onto the Sony PlayStation Network. Resident Evil was very well received critically and commercially, and has been credited with starting the modern survival horror genre. Its success spawned a multitude of sequels and spin-offs in the Resident Evil series. Originally conceived as a remake of Capcom's earlier horror-themed game Sweet Home, development for the game was directed by Shinji Mikami, who took gameplay design cues from the 1992 game Alone in the Dark. Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … We had Resident Evil on the PS1 but never beat it. I actually used a magazine walkthrough to help with that but I lost interest halfway through. Figures, since I was just following directions at that point. And the walkthrough went in a completely different route, meaning that half of the steps were things I did already, which made the process quite disorienting. -
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I've actually never beaten an RE game to this day. Although, pretty much the entire series is on Switch so I might end up grabbing RE4 or something.

Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … Some people actually enjoy that part of the game design, because the player could actually find different ways to get to the main objective. I still find it pretty frustrating, because a lot of the first few areas of the mansion look the same.

Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … There's a number of problems with the walkthroughs. For instance, there's a really important dog whistle that gets ignored in some of the faqs. Heck, I didn't even know that there was a fake shotgun that could disarm the trap in the shotgun room. But then I'd miss seeing the Jill sandwich. Damn.

Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … I think they changed the really cheesy parts, but they still kept one of them. Barry still thinks that Jill could fit nicely into a sandwich. I mean, they could never completely eliminate Jill Sandwich.

Saved!Nothing feels better than fixing the controls by editing the broken config.ini file for Resident Evil. Seriously, I'd think that they would fix the setup for the Logitech F320, but no. I literally had to switch four numbers in a text file, because the developers didn't bother to bug fix this crap.
*sigh* Oh well. -
