    #realMyst: Masterpiece Edition

Myst seems to be the ultimate "Figure It Out Yourself: The Game". From the very first questions of "What is this place?" and "What do I even have to do?" until the very-very realMyst end.

It's a 1st-person point-n-click game with a lot of journals to read and a lot of puzzles to solve. There's no hand-holding whatsoever – and I loved it! (mostly …) None of the puzzles are impossible or unfair. All you need is your mind and a sense for discovery: there are enough in-game hints, and much can be solved with pure logic. However, even though most often you need to THINK, there are also times when you need to PLAY AROUND – and there's no telling of when to do what.

Mastering these riddles completely on your own in a time full of flashing arrows, quest markers, YouTube Let's Plays and online databases makes the experience feel so much more rewarding. They are ~2o year old puzzles, after all! You really do feel smart solving them without any walkthrough.

Editing … Unfortunately I must admit that I did use a walkthrough – and let this be noted as a big dissatisfaction – namely after already having reached the end of the game! That's right: I solved the very last puzzle and didn't even realize it; I had to learn that from a walkthrough. As nice of a fanservice adding a new Age to the remake may have been, without a proper ending it felt very unfinished. — Aside from that, the now seamless spatial movement – the original used still images – is greatly appreciated. Greatly!

Editing … and @Fincher accuses me of assuming "that people who use guides are unable or unwilling to criticize a game for requiring them to use a guide."

Editing … … (–.– ) It's way too late at night for me to grasp that convoluted sentence. Even more so since I don't know the context of your conversation with Fincher. — Can you please state more clearly what you're giving me flak for?
