It gets me every time. Piano music has been around forever and is unlikely to vanish. It is timeless. It is clear & piercing; easy to learn, hard to master; and powerful. It is highly impressive when played fervently fast, it is beautifully mesmerizing when played melancholically slow. I enjoy it all alone by itself, but also when it's accompanied by vocals, violins or the voltaic cords of an e-guitar – or even chiptunes. It picks me up when I'm down; it lifts me even higher when I'm already up there. In a room full of instruments, it is my instrument of choice. I have a strong & riddling connection to everything Piano, and I am forever enslaved to its re-energizing leash of pure sounds and its gripping shackles of sweet melodies. And it is a bond of submission about which I feel deeply gratified to be helplessly subjected to. I simply cannot live without it.
