I was trying to plug www.hardsid.com but that page seems to be down. For quite some time already, even. However, I've found a worthy substitute …

#High Voltage SID Collection is a website dedicated to SID (or C64) music. Now THAT's retro! They're offering 44,ooo tracks from several video games of the eighties in one convenient 8o MB zip file. As SID files don't play in conventional audio players, you're gonna need a SID player – but they've got everything right there.

If you've never heard SID music before, I may have to warn you: the sound is VERY retro (^^ ) Also, unlike modern OSTs, the tracks run in eternal loops, just as in the game. (Or until you press pause, of course)

Don't expect your socks to be blewn off. Composers of that era arguably weren't too memorable (or known) – except for the great #Jeroen Tel or #Rob Hubbard, of course, but … I'm trying to say, they were no #Nobuo Uematsus but their music has got a certain flair that is very unique.

To be honest, with a payload of 44,ooo tracks comes a lot of crap (›‹ ) but there are also quite a few gems in-between. Like the "Geo-Matrix" music. (the game isn't even in the FL database …)
