    The poll is over. It was another tie just like last time, so I made a random choice (via Random.org's Coin Flipper).

    ★ Chip of the Month August 2o14 is … #Child of Light OST

    And I'd failed to honor last month's winner, which I've settled in the same manner:

    ★ Chip of the Month July 2o14 is … #freezedream

    Congrats!

    This fan page isn't even one month old and there have been already a small variety of posts where I've covered everything from albums to artists and even single tracks. I've tried to feature various genres and different aspects of chiptunes, too. But this is just the beginning, of course.

    To make you all feel more comfortable around here I'd like to get some feedback from you guys. It's a poll, basically. Since Papi hasn't published the feature yet, we're gonna have to do it the old fashioned way. And if everything goes well, I'm gonna make this a regular thing. Instead of asking you to rank this or that, I'll just ask a question without any FL integration. I then plan to use these polls as orientation for future posts. It's as simple as that.

    So, my question to you is:

    Of these posts, what are your favorite featured Pages?

    * #The Glory Days
    * #Chipzel
    * #freezedream
    * #Ben Landis
    * #High Voltage SID Collection
    * #Tattered Slippers
    * #Robot Science
    * #Mega Man 3 Remade
    * #Mean Machine

    You may pick two. Just post your votes as a comment, I'm gonna leave this poll "open" for a week and then count the tally in the end.

    Chip on!

    I was trying to plug www.hardsid.com but that page seems to be down. For quite some time already, even. However, I've found a worthy substitute …

    #High Voltage SID Collection is a website dedicated to SID (or C64) music. Now THAT's retro! They're offering 44,ooo tracks from several video games of the eighties in one convenient 8o MB zip file. As SID files don't play in conventional audio players, you're gonna need a SID player – but they've got everything right there.

    If you've never heard SID music before, I may have to warn you: the sound is VERY retro (^^ ) Also, unlike modern OSTs, the tracks run in eternal loops, just as in the game. (Or until you press pause, of course)

    Don't expect your socks to be blewn off. Composers of that era arguably weren't too memorable (or known) – except for the great #Jeroen Tel or #Rob Hubbard, of course, but … I'm trying to say, they were no #Nobuo Uematsus but their music has got a certain flair that is very unique.

    To be honest, with a payload of 44,ooo tracks comes a lot of crap (›‹ ) but there are also quite a few gems in-between. Like the "Geo-Matrix" music. (the game isn't even in the FL database …)

    Now @Explojin's the only member of the founder's club (I've reduced its limit since you can't make that particular group infinitely long) Yay (›‹ )
