Editing … I probably knew it when I was a kid but I had to google ditto. I changed the shapeshifting because a picture that actually showed the change made sense to me. And you lot don't know #Mystique? I figured she was the most famous shapeshifting character by a mile.

Editing … I am aware of #Mystique but I'm not super familiar with this form. I picked Ditto because it is very recognisable and it is literally just shapeshifting, it doesn't do anything else. I would not have guessed shapeshifting from just looking at the current picture because I did not know that was mystique and she is not obviously mid transformation. I'm not super bothered by this page being changed but I've said before that the page creator should get to pick the image / have the ability to veto changes unless the original is wildly inappropriate.

Editing … I figure it makes more sense to show humanoids with the power and Marvel > Pokemon by a mile for me but I don't mind too much which character we use a picture of as long as it shows them changing. We could use Martian Manhunter or Clayface or the Zygons from Doctor Who or the T1000 if you don't like Mystique.

Editing … I'd have said Pokemon's as popular as Marvel with kids but nowhere near with people in their teens or older. Pikachu, Charizard and a couple of others are really well known but I don't think Ditto is. Change it back if you want@Louis Bromilowilow but I just saw a random pink blob next to shapeshifting and figured it was a bad fit. Should we try and find a picture of a character obviously mid way through shapeshifting? I thought I had with Mystique but I guess it helps I know what she's meant to look like and that shapeshifting's her power.

Editing … I dont' like it, it's too widescreen and comic-related. *sigh* But I guess it's good enough, if you insist so much on making this an X-Men list catering specific to the western audience alone. — This telepathy pic is bad and more specific than the kids, btw, because people who don't know X-Men probably see in this pic a bald man with cold feet and a really bad headache. The kids, however, are just instantaneously recognizable as telepathy for people who aren't into comics, even if the make-believe component is overly obvious. Remember, "What's your favorite superhuman ability" is a question that goes beyond superhero comics and has attracted mankind for decades long before the comic had their boom. Every kid has had this thought in life at one point or another – no matter if it's a he or she, no matter if he or she is or ever was into comics. That's why I don't like this pic change at all.

Editing … Blimey, you're coming over as miffed about this. I'm not trying to make this an X-Men list, I used two X-Men characters because by my reckoning they're the most famous examples of their superpowers. And Marvel characters are pretty well known worldwide but since you mention it I do think favslist primarily caters to a western audience. I actually think superheroes/villains from comics tend to be the best and most well known examples of superpowers and that the two are pretty inextricably linked (a lot of superpowers were invented in comics and a lot of others have had their most popular depiction in that medium), what have you got against comics anyway Shige? ----------Going back to which picture we should use, telepathy's not an easy thing to depict in one picture and personally I thought the Professor X one was a pretty good attempt and combined with the fact he's a well known telepathic character probably as good as we're going to get. When I saw a picture of two kids in tin foil hats I didn't think telepathy at all, I thought it was two kids wearing tin foil hats (and besides if it's the tin foil hats letting the mind reading happen then neither of them has a superpower and definitely not the impressive one people will be imagining when they rank telepathy). Like I said already though if you really want a generic picture for telepathy then I think this one's a lot better http://www.crystalinks.com/telepathy500a.jpg

Editing … I like comics, but I don't like comics taking over everything in existance. I can't stand to see the release of yet another superhero blockbuster in the cinemas, or at least the way they're advertised; or of yet another TV show about Marvel & Co; and now this list. Whatever happened to #classic daydreaming? Nowadays, everything has to be about saving the world or the ultimate battle between Good and Evil. As if there was no other audience than the immature teenagers. "And boy, you better be nothing but an immature teenager – or else!" … This society sickens me more and more with each passing day.

Editing … Comics are great escapism and superhero blockbusters at the moment seem to vary from fun spectacle to genuinely great films. They're popular but that doesn't take anything away from other kinds of entertainment out there. If the popularity of comic culture and superhero blockbusters is what's sickening you about society you need to sort out your priorities Shige. Regardless, a list about superpowers really isn't the right context to take a stand on the pervasiveness of comics taking over everything.

Editing … Superpowers aren't about making sense, they're about thinking "wouldn't it be awesome if you could --------?" and letting your imagination run wild or "this character's awesome because they can ---------". If you're complaining the powers are nonsensical you've really missed the point of the list. As for my "repeated picture changing" I barely qualify for that description I've changed two pictures. As it happens the pictures I thought would be a much better fit were both Marvel characters but in the interests of balance I promise I'll try and make it a DC character next time if I change another.
