Editing … One of the best racing films I saw was Rush. Even Claire got really into it and started asking me loads of questions about Lauda irl, and old F1.

Editing … oh man Rush kicked ass. An excellent example of digital cinematography too. I have it on my shortlist for whenever I finally put together my movie cinematography list.

Editing … Have you seen Grand Prix? It's from the 60s but it's great. Some really cool footage of the cars and the old tracks when they were lined with trees instead of gravel traps. Also kinda related - I enjoyed Baby Driver a lot.

Editing … Have you ever seen a movie shot on three-strip Cinerama? There aren't any racing films shot in the format, but there are a lot of first-person driving sequences. One of their travelogue or Cinerama showcase movies probably has some footage on a race track. These movies were shown with three projectors on a curved screen, and blu-ray releases of these movies try to simulate that curved look. They call it "smileboxing," since the letterbox bars are curved like a smile.

Editing … I wanna add that Grand Prix was marketed as a Cinerama movie, though it was shot in 65mm, not three-strip 35mm

Editing … I can do that. Gran Turismo already spoiled the ending though, we all learned about the story when we first won the Ford GT40 back in 1997.

Editing … I saw it on Netflix after it started getting marketed as "Gran Turismo: Based on a True Story," when it deviates from the true story to such a vast degree that it's basically just entirely fiction. Biopics typically fictionalize much of the story, but I'd say it's a stretch to even call Gran Turismo a biopic.
