The DS has a bunch of amazing hidden gems. What are some I should grab? What are the forgotten classics?

Editing … Hotel Dusk is a must. (and the sequel: Last Window: The Secret of Cape West ) I also loved 999 of and the ace attorney games but maybe they are not so much "hidden". Radiant Historia....TWEWY.... the first few Professor Layton games. God I had so many games.... Why did I sell them?! Stupid younger me.

Editing … Some DS games have mods so I can use the New 3DS c-stick to move the camera! There are also some widescreen mods that don't stretch the games. Seems like a good excuse to replay those two Kingdom Hearts games.

Editing … It's just really charming. The protagonist is a grumpy ex-cop which is really funny in interactions. The art style is really cool (kind of like the aha's "take on me" clip) and the characters are interesting and fun to interview. It's not your typical point and click, it's more like an interactive book with some puzzles. It will show it's age in the 3d lower screen environment and controls but if you can look past that it's just a really special game. I'm surprised something like that was made. It's just really creative and I've never played anything like it before or since. Music is pretty cool too.

Editing … With Hotel Dusk, my folder of DS games to load onto my 3DS has 27 games. I'd like to grab some Game Boy games too, but I kinda wanna load them onto an Everdrive to play on my GBA SP :3

Editing … Ah too bad. I think I got an American model specifically because it would for whatever reason be guaranteed to have the backlit screen.... and it's also pink! :-D

Editing … My nephew had an SP at launch (iirc I literally was the one to go buy it) and the screen was weird, it was this yellow lamp at the top of the screen that kept it lit. At the time though it was this rad thing because this was before the DS or PSP. Anyway, weird thing is, he dropped it once and it broke, my sis bought him an identical one and they kept it a secret from everyone. She layer told me. But I noticed it was different. The screen was still yellow and dark but the positioning of the lights were different. The one I noticed at the top was gone, it was more evenly distributed. This led me to believe there are more production variants of the SP than what is commonly believed.

Editing … Yeah i'm not buying it. Maybe it depends on color. EDIT: Oh, I see. The backlit models were primarily released in north america. Europe had them in very limited quantities because the DS already came out by then.

Editing … I might like a backlit model, but I dunno, they're like $100 on ebay so maybe I'd rather just emulate them, maybe on a modded console. I'll get a backlit one if I see one for really cheap.

Editing … GBA seems easy to emulate. I was thinking of getting a GBA but only as an introductory console to my brother's kid. It would be gnarly to show him this old thing you put a cartridge in, has buttons and can play Pac Man, Dig Dug, and Sonic. He would appreciate later consoles even more as a result. Especially if the GBA was the old model without a lit screen at all.

Editing … Yeah indeed. The backlit ones were not common here. I saw an imported one in the game store and I checked the model number to make sure it was backlit. It's very pretty.

Editing … I remember the original GBA had an attachment light and a magnifying glass you could stick to the front. It looked so lame I stayed away from the GBA completely.

Editing … I used a worm light on my old launch gba, and would frequently adjust it to try and get better coverage. It was really neat that the light was flexible (hence the name) but seemingly no matter what I did, part of the screen would always have a giant glare spot from the light being directly over it while the other half of the screen would be almost completely dark. Nintendo advocated against using them, saying they could mess up your system, but that didn't stop Nyko or w/e from selling billions. because like, the gba screen was so so dim. What did you expect, Nintendo?? xD

Editing … Yeah, I don't know how they expected you to see what was going on on screen. Only in certain lighting conditions can you actually play reasonably well. It's nostalgic though having to squint to see the tetris blocks.

Editing … ok my bad. I just tried playing Digging Strike. There are so many cutscenes and you can't skip them. It's like a visual novel, wtf? I totally didn't remember that about the game. I ain't got time for that, sorry.

Editing … I don't even like Smash but I am instantly a Sakurai fan after seeing that. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5aVwxTM0ZZ0 I abhor company logos btw. After getting used to handhelds I don't see how anyone can find them acceptable. It's like a cutscene you're forced to watch not only on every playthrough, but each time you sit down to play.
