Isabella was poorly last night, we rang a doctor and the next available appointment is 3 weeks on September 8th.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the NHS. All you Yanks really don't want this shit, trust me.

Editing … 13% of our income (and everybody elses) pay's for this SHIT we have to deal with. It's time for private healthcare like the Yanks, I'll actually get a service for my money then instead of paying for nothing. I pay well over £6k a year plus whatever Claire pays, our household alone pays half the wage of a nurse for a year.

Editing … Wait no option of leaving healthcare for a private one? In Germany national healthcare is also mandatory (~9%), but with surpassing a defined income value over two years you are allowed to switch to a private one, cancel your decision also possible for a while.

Editing … No we have to pay 13.25% of everything we earn before tax. If we want private healthcare we pay for this after we paid for the NHS.

Editing … Such case is quite common in Germany as well. Additional healthcare, and a bunch of other insurancies thinking they get payed taxes back this way.

Editing … This system is made to help the common man. Here Bismarck decided to add this to make the working class loyal to monarchy. Overall system still runs fine, but original loyality goal failed pretty much.

Editing … It seems like our system is just a tax collection service. We don't actually get what we want or need. Our ambulances that pick up heart attack victims etc can be waiting outside a hospital for up to 23 hours just to get in: https://inews.co.uk/news/health/record-breaking-ambulance-waiting-times-could-be-significantly-worse-in-winter-chiefs-warn-1799099

Editing … I get the impression significant parts of nhs finances get relocated to other budgets. Why denying basics to people then getting ill, what is considered more important? The missing billions must be somethere to fix something else. In Germany military has the fate of nhs, it is a joke beeing decently financed in theory but overall everything is lacking even clothing and handguns only bureaucracy all over place.
