I've heard about this condition just one or two years ago and I find it fascinating.

In contrast, I seem to have a very vivid imagination. When I write my sex stories I can see the characters visually in my head. Unfortunately, the same is true for when I have the bad feelings and bad thoughts of my depression.

It's very cool to realize how different this ability can be, and that it lies on a spectrum like that. People must grow up dealing with life differently, which in turn probably affects how they make decisions and interact with one another. I'm looking forward to read more studies about this.

Editing … I have Aphantasia. I'm sure I posted here about it too. I can't picture my mrs face even, I know what she looks like, but I can't pull up an image. I was thinking that this is one of the reasons I struggle to express myself in writing and I always have to give real life examples to make a point when a few words by somebody else does the same job much better.

Editing … I thought it was possible to train Aphantasia. I think you can look at the the snow/fuzz you see at the back of your eyelids when you go to sleep(kind of like the static/snow on old televisions). You can just concentrate on the fuzz and sometimes the fuzz can become shapes. When you see those shapes you can try to control them and slowly gain the ability to have pictures in your head. I used to play with the fuzz shapes as a kid. I thought they were fun to look at when I went to bed. There are periods where the fuzz shapes are more active for me. Now they are pretty active and they take the shape of things that I see a lot the day before. I see a lot of plant shapes in the fuzz now. They are pretty to look at. But actually seeing the shapes is a bit different from picturing things in your head. In a way it’s more intense to really see a thing literally than it is to recall an image. Editing … Nod have you ever seen figures in random patterns like bumpy wall textures? The eye fuzz thing is kind of like that. Your brain makes the random patterns it sees into something it has seen before and can recognise.

Editing … "I'm sure I posted here about it too." — I saw that (admins or moderators can see deleted conversations). It was one of the many conversations and comments by many users that was flagged as deleted in the OldDB for some reason. I just migrated that as is. Not really sure why there are so many, though. I figured, it was from the time when people were mad because of honorable mentions or ranking slots or something.

Editing … I wonder if often seeing faces in things is also related to this.
