So, I pay 12% out of my wages for this service, but then I have to pay for medicines too, and I even got charged for an ambulance when I had a motorbike accident. We even have to pay again when we go to the dentist.

Plus it takes years to actually get seen unless you're on death's door.

Scrap this shite and let's get private medical insurance instead.

Editing … A couple of years ago I almost died twice, I had two anaphylactic shocks and was rushed to hospital. They said I was allergic to something but they didn't know what. Did they try to find out what it was? Did they fuck. Did I even get an epi pen to save my life in case it happened again? Did I fuck. I got put on a waiting list that took over a year to see a specialist, and all that specialist did was tell me it's plant proteins but she wasn't sure which ones, and gave me a prescription for an epi pen that I had to pay £20 for. If I went private I would get the best treatment and get it today.

Editing … I'll tell you another story now. 21 years ago I fell off a motorbike and seperated my shoulder. I had NHS physio many times, the first time they didn't even recognise my shoulder was injured!! After 20 years I got so fed up that I went and paid privately to see a guy. He said try growth hormone injections as well as some physio he showed me, it cost me over £500 for the growth hormones and whatever his fee was. Within 3 months my shoulder was better than it'd ever been in my adult life, it's still not 100%, that will require surgery, but it's manageable now. The NHS is fucking wank.

Editing … This sucks, heard of ridiculous long waiting times in british healthcare. But this is worse, how can a system screwed up so badly. Do not understand why it does not get fixed in all these years. Looks like epic fail for the goverment...

Editing … There are tons of reasons. Foreigners can come use it for free. It's ran by the government so 80 hour weeks are standard. It's ran by the government so junior doctors wages are pitiful. All our good doctors go abroad to double or their earnings. The country is overcrowded and we don't have the infrastructure in place for everybody. We have an influx of a quarter of a million immigrants a year that come to live permanantly but never contributed into the system before. I could go on and on.

Editing … Germany has more immigrants and foreigners taking advantage of our social system, so this alone can not be the reason. The doctors leaving issue should be scary indeed, as US is the obvious choice alone due the same spoken language. Good doctors in germany leave also, but hospitals hire cheaper foreigner then. My hometown owns a hospital which make profits (worked for it for three months during my rehab in 2016), as it is selfgoverment and expanding. Other one is more or less owned by the catholic church and also expanding as small are closing.

Editing … Germany's economy is bigger than ours though. We need to put fat and sugar taxes on unhealthy foods and drinks, and give healthy foods a small tax break. Eventually that will ease the burden on the NHS and in the meantime the taxes raised will help. Smoking too, it should be £100 a packet, price it out of everybody's price range. Or if it was me in government I'd say anybody 15 years old or younger will not get free healthcare for lung cancer or other illnesses caused by smoking. Do it, and it's your funeral. The taxpayer shouldn't have to pay for your stupidity. Then in 30 years time it will be much better.

Editing … Generally raising taxes on unhealthy things would really to reduce the health care costs. But lobbyiest are everywhere in politics. Remember myself then a suggestion for increasing taxes on alcohol in EU was blocked by Germany, to keep the lowest taxation. Changes will indeed take decades...

Editing … Scotland has introduced a minimum price per unit of alcohol so it's more expensive now. I love my Erdinger and Kraken rum, but I'd pay a little more for them. That way unhealthy people pay more into the NHS, and healthy people less. Even unemployed will contribute that way too.

Editing … Something needs to change. Unemployed are the most unhealthy, they nearly all smoke, drink, eat crap foods etc. And I have to pay for them. Nah, it's not fair on the people that pay into the system. Taxes are the only thing that I can think of to make it more fair, I don't know if anybody else has any ideas? You can't raise taxes on unhealthy foods without lowering taxes on the healthy options, that's the key. Force people to eat healthy if they are poor.
