Saved!Finished this a bit ago in my Uncharted series playthrough. I feel like the story didn't pay off in the end on this one. It had a real strong beginning but got a bit lost along the way. Combat and platforming were an improvement over 1 & 2 for sure. I'm also just not one for the desert settings....Like I already said before 3D is pretty dope for a cinematic game like this. Sad it fell out of fashion.

Saved!SandvichEditing … Uncharted 3 was kind of a mess, especially in the story department. Like that whole sequence to rescue Sully only to discover he was never abducted, nothing gained or learned along the way. An extended sequence chasing Talbot when Talbot has no reason to run from a lone Drake when he has backup present and has managed to hand Drake his ass at every turn. The whole "Nate's an overgrown kid larping as the descendant of a great explorer" aspect was interesting but poorly fleshed out. I also thought Naughty Dog overcompensated for those who said Uncharted 2 had too many extended combat sequences (which I thought was fine tbh) and crammed way too many puzzle and platforming sequences, which to me better served the game as a bit of variety and weren't the real meat of the experience. I don't think you even get into a proper gunfight until about a sixth of the way through the game! Uncharted 4 did all of these things better.
-
Saved!ExplojinEditing … Yea, the whole drug angle was lame. I highly doubt I got so drugged out that I had a whole combat sequence in my head with flaming skull head guys. I hate the whole "drug induced sequence" thing that came around in that era. The Arkham games did it with Scarecrow and the Far Cry games do it a lot. I can't remember off the bat but I'm pretty sure there were more around that time as well.

Saved!WoodrowShigeruEditing … Top 10 Favorite Drug Induced Sequence in Video Games.

Saved!KlemoibEditing … I could never really get into uncharted. It's way too scripted for my taste. I really wanted to like it but I think action games should at least give you the illusion you have free will or are doing things according to your own will. I think for people who never played games do like these types of games though. My friend who never played games really got into one of the new Tomb Raiders which is essentially the same scripted approach. It gives a clearer path and objective to follow for them. It’s super funny to see people new to games apply real world logic to games btw. I would recommend back seat gaming with someone who has never played a game in their life. Even I could enjoy uncharted that way.
-
Saved!ExplojinEditing … I feel like scripted games are my favorite games these days. I don't have the drive to explore open worlds like I used to. And my dumb brain likes being able to progress and complete things without wondering if I missed something.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … Techland tweeted “To fully complete Dying Light 2 Stay Human, you’ll need at least 500 hours – almost as long as it would take to walk from Warsaw to Madrid.” ACTUAL GAME PROMOTION! FUCKING KILL ME!
-
Saved!ExplojinEditing … I don't know of any world I'd want to spend 500 hours in, including the real world.
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … I really get what you say. People back in the day would say playing games is something lazy people do but it actually takes a lot of mental fortitude to play and finish a lot of games. I guess if games taught me anything it is that. People today have discovered its way easier to just watch other people play games for them. Why put in the effort if you can just get the results instantly? If you’ve had a rough day and not feeling a lot of willpower to commit to playing a long game or playing open worlds absolutely can feel like torture and just more work if you’re not in the right mind-set. I’m not particularly fond of open worlds particularly or long games. I just do not like when a game can’t get me to suspend my disbelief like Uncharted does. It’s like the game is literally telling me how to play it. I feel no agency in that. I find I am really enjoying short indie games recently. They don’t ask a lot of your time but they also leave room for my own exploration and good indie games give me experiences I have not found in any other games I played until now. I really like that variety. I just love A Short Hike for instance. It gives you the goal of climbing to the top of a mountain in the body of a bird, but you can go about how you do that your own way. The vibe is so carefree and fun and the music is really good. Just a fun experience that relaxes you and makes exploration feel effortless and the opposite of daunting. It feels like such an honest game that does not pretend to be more than it is. I wish more games were like that.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … I believe the term you're looking for is "player expression." As much as I love them, Naughty Dog could try adding a bit more here and there.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … I don't think I've sunk 500 hours into any single player game. Across all my playthroughs of the Witcher 3 it's probably the closest and I plan to play it again someday which might get me over the mark. But that game is one in a million, and Dying Light 2 doesn't look like a game of the year contender, never mind game of the generation. Techland later clarified it would take more like 20 hours to complete the main story, but it has become an agonizing trend that game studios think it's a selling point that their title takes hundreds of hours nobody has to complete.

Saved! So I managed to luck out finding a cheap projector at a thrift store this past year and it turns out it was 3D capable. So after completing 1 & 2 in the HD collection I've actually fired up my PS3 so I can experience U3 in 3D and wow, I'm blown away. I started it tonight and ended up playing 5 hours straight. The cutscenes are gorgeous, the climbing around which is my least fav part of Uncharted games is now interesting because you have that extra dimension, and the direction of the action really caters to the 3D element without being gimmicky. With that being said the frame rate sucks, it's too dark at times, and wearing double glasses blows but those are just limitations of the tech. I'm also enjoying playing through an Uncharted game that I don't really recall the story of, the other two I had replayed countless times but I think I only went through U3 once before. Overall having a grand ole time.
-
Saved!PuddingEditing … Out of the 4 mainline games, 3 is the only one that I truly loved and thought was exceptional from start to finish. Glad you're enjoying it! :D Have they removed the 3D option for U3 in the collection? That would suck as the framerate would be a non-issue.

Saved!Better than 2 imo.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … I've only ever played the first game once. I should maybe go back to it at some point and see if my feelings on it have changed. I've always ranked it below the other games in the series.
-
Saved!Finished it finally. I wanted to replay all three and the games do get better each time. The third one isn't as big a leap but it's an amazing looking game, I still can't get over the fact they fit this on a PS3. The plane sequence is still the coolest thing in the series. I feel weird rating these games high since I hate the fucking gameplay, it's so tedious. Enemies move their heads like some spastic chicken suffering from nerve damage, and guns are inaccurate, so even when the stars align and you get your cross-hair on an enemy's head it's a guess if it will hit or not. Great games but I hope after Uncharted 4 Naughty Dog move away from third-person shooting.

Bryan Leontes wrote his opinion about Uncharted 3: Drake's DeceptionSaved!A lot of people give this one a hard time....I have no idea why...it's just as good as the others. This series is the modern day Indiana Jones.
-
Daan vM wrote his opinion about Uncharted 3: Drake's DeceptionSaved! Not as good as its predecessor, but still a great game. Lovely deserts too.
-
Paul Villanueva wrote his opinion about Uncharted 3: Drake's DeceptionSaved!Another Naughty Dog classic! The plane sequence was phenomenal setpiece programming and had my balls shooting up to my throat -- I couldn't believe I was playing the entire sequence! The story, while not as strong as Uncharted 2, was still more than enough to keep you goung and getting even more invested in Drake and pals. Typical nipple-standing Naughty Dog production here only solidifies it as a PS3 must-have.

In likeflynn wrote his opinion about Uncharted 3: Drake's DeceptionSaved! An excellent, well polished entry in the franchise; the story is good, thought it lacks the strength and charm of it's predecessor, it's still a good action tale with lots of highlights, Amy Hennig really knows how to tell stories; gameplay is pretty much the same, the melee is ok but it takes time to get used too, other than that it works fine; music its top quality and the graphics are excellent. The multiplayer on the other hand, is way batter than U2, having split-screen let's me play with my brother without any problem. Overall, fantastic game; single player is good but not batter than U2, multiplayer makes worth the full price.
-
Nodley wrote his opinion about Uncharted 3: Drake's DeceptionSaved!I completed it in just over 6 hours which was just about right I think, it started dragging towards the end. It was better than Uncharted 2 but not by a lot. Definitely one of the best PS3 exclusive games.

Big Boss wrote his opinion about Uncharted 3: Drake's DeceptionSaved!Nathan Drake is back and once again Naughty Dog has upped the ante in terms of setpieces, variety of environments, and combat. Fleshing out the melee in particular is where Uncharted 3 makes a big improvement over 2. The pacing is more deliberate than the rollercoaster ride Among Thieves was and tries to have a more serious story (although it still isn't anything deep). Technically it is the best Uncharted yet, although it never quite reaches the brilliance of the second game's train level (but hardly any games do). Still, if you can keep expectations reasonable and can put up with some of the formulaic story beats of the pulp adventure genre this is probably the best game in the series.
