Dark Souls II
Dark Souls II (ダークソウルツー, Dāku Souru Tsū?) is an action role-playing video game set in an open world environment, developed for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by From Software. From Software will also publish the game in Japan, while Namco Bandai Games will do it in other regions. As the sequel to Dark Souls, Dark Souls II was announced at Spike Video Game Awards on December 7, 2012. Hidetaka Miyazaki, who served as director on Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, will not return as director for Dark Souls II. Instead he will act as a supervisor and the game will be directed by Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura. Miyazaki stated there will be no direct story connection between Dark Souls and Dark Souls II, though they are set in the same world. The game will use dedicated multiplayer servers. Similar to the previous title, players customize the gender and physical features of their character in addition to choosing a starting class, which determine the stats and...

Casey Smith wrote his opinion about Dark Souls IISaved!the runt of the litter when it comes to the dark souls series but still a masterpiece of a game. just not a very good dark souls game.
-
Erektionsite wrote his opinion about Dark Souls IISaved! If this is truly the lowpoint of Dark Souls then boy is it a solid fucking series.
-
Saved!Based on what I can tell from Youtube videos, this is the only game in the series where I like the visuals.
-
Saved!Welp I finally finished DS II (SotFS). Totally get why people find it disappointing, but it's still a pretty great game in it's own right.
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … It's still head and shoulders above most action RPGs, it only falls short when you compare it to the first Dark Souls.
-
Saved!Big BossEditing … Yeah people would love this game if it had came out before Demons and Dark Souls

Sandvich wrote his opinion about Dark Souls IISaved! It's frustrating that despite a greatly improved UI and inventory system, a less constrained crafting system, bonfire ascetics allowing for respawning of useful items, and all around greater opportunity for experimentation, DSII is a big step down in the ways that matter most.
The half-baked level design quickly becomes evident to new players. The game is no longer a fight to push forward to unlock a new shortcut, but a slog down linear paths until you stumble upon the next bonfire. The easiest path to progression is often clearing out troublesome enemies until they no longer respawn, and there are fewer detours to clear out so they can be skipped on subsequent runs.
Then there are the bosses which include: dude in armor, dude in armor with spear, dude in armor with bow, dude in armor with hammer, a recycled gargoyle fight, a mob of generic rats.... ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?! Far too many humanoid bosses and FAR too many encounters involving multiple enemies to swarm you.-
Saved!SandvichEditing … In the end it's still a Dark Souls title, which means it's still a grand old adventure that I've sunk hundreds of hours into, but it's immensely disappointing to see Dark Souls II fumble in the key areas that made the first Dark Souls a cut above the competition. Despite the improvements and tweaks that I deeply appreciate and hope to see in subsequent games, I imagine this is the entry I will revisit the least. And the bosses suck. Seriously, they fucking STINK! If I made a list of the top ten bosses in the series not a single goddamn entry would include a boss from Dark Souls II.

Saved! An HD repackage of sorts has been announced for April 7. It's called Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin and will have all 3 DLC plus some graphic and narrative changes.

Saved!Rich .Editing … I'm surprised they didn't do that this year rather than have a DS2 re-release come out around the same time as Bloodborne.
-
Saved!Bob GutSmashaEditing … I know, it's being released after Bloodborne so (even with the graphical upgrade) it will be an underwhelming release. Oooooh though actually, if you own an Xone or PC Bloodborne won't be on those systems, so in a way they are giving those players something to chew on.
-
Saved!UltyEditing … I don't even know what to say... on one hand the game is not even a year old, it's like Naughty Dog with TLOU this seems like a pure cashgrab. On the other hand it seems like they'll improve many things AND add alot of original content unlike TLOU Remastered. It seems like From still handles DLC, and potentially rereleases, better than every company out there which I have alot of respect for. Question is what will be the price...
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … I don't really get how next gen ports are cash grabs Ulty. Is it not more of a case of providing for the audience that's gone next gen than trying to sell the same game twice?
-
Saved!UltyEditing … I'm just saying it's too soon for it, specially when there's a PC version available and a brand new IP is coming literally 2 weeks before it.
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … I actually reckon it's too late for it if anything, they should have released the next gen versions alongside the last gen versions or as close as possible. Remasters are just glorified ports crossed with GOTY editions but that's fine because I'm generally in favour of games coming to as many platforms as possible although ideally at the same time. Like Bob says though I guess this is more for PC/XB1 owners than the PS4 owners that are getting Bloodborne.
-
Saved!UltyEditing … Bloodborne is the exact reason why it should come later in 2015/ early 2016, much more consumers would have reason to buy it. Alongside would be impossible, development started WAY before Next Gen consoles were released and it was thanks to Bloodborne that From got used to Next Gen technology.

Saved!I am officially done with #Dark Souls II!
Just yesterday I finally cleared Frigid Outskirts, therefore finishing everything Dark Souls II had to offer...I did not like it :(
There are good things about this game, like some improved mechanics and certain set-pieces, and the level design in the DLC's was actually pretty good, but overall it's a huge dissapointment for me at best. I hated the enemy placement, and how overall uninspired and uncreative it was with the setting and bosses. I don't regret playing it though, I supported my current favorite devs and that's what matters most for me.
Hope #Bloodborne lives up to expectations, and introduces some new interesting stuff to the table.-
Saved!Bob GutSmashaEditing … Really that bad? I preferred DSI also but there were some cool moments in DSII, the place I didn't like was that fire forge thing with all the lava and bow enemies. This guy didn't like DSII at all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UScsme8didI&list=UUb_sF2m3-2azOqeNEdMwQPw
-
Saved!UltyEditing … Yeah, that video highlights alot of DS2's problems really well. I'm writting my own review, i really thought this game was a failure of epic proportions in terms of difficulty and level design. I do understand why anyone would love it though, like I said there are good things about it. Shrine of Amana is where I screamed in agony, I was seeing the name Dark Souls dying right there xD

Saved!Interesting perspective on how Dark Souls 2 failed to live up to expectations.
-
Saved!About to play Dark Shit 2's newest DLC, let's just hope it's good this time...and it won't. :(
-
Saved!UltyEditing … I can't f***ing believe this, I already hate the game as it is but being forced to play it all over again for some shitty DLC that is probably even worse than the last one? I just came back from vacation, and i'm already missing the hell out of it. PLEASE BLOODBORNE, PLEASE DO NOT SUCK!

Saved!Me vs. Dark Souls II (a reference to Egoraptor's Zelda Sequelitis episode):
Dark Souls II: Hey man, i'm challenging.
Me: "rage builds" GOD, SHUT UP! SERIOUSLY! You want all this attention like you care, like you really gave it your all on a new innovative Souls experience, but instead you led Souls into an infuriating monotony! You know what started the series was like this sense of satisfaction, and what has thus far concluded this series is this sense of frustration. A predictable, artificially difficult mess, that asks you not of your wicked cunning? Or even your skill? But instead your ability to grind and chease out of unfair situations. You ask of us our ability to light a torch and then walk around with no defense. You ask us of our willingness to fight another unfair boss, in a room where you can't see almost anything, with OP moves and accompanied with 2 pyromancers with OP long range magic! GEE, I wonder how you're so f***ing difficult! I F***ING WONDER, DARK SOULS II!
You ask of us to go through an area, where in 70% of it you have limited movement and where you fight packs of OP enemies with multiple magician snipers with homing spells, and healers all over the f***ing place! The adventures of Drangleic, because F**K YOU! IS THAT YOUR TITLE?! What's the tagline on the ads?! PREPARE TO DIE! OVER AND OVER...10 OUT OF 10! No godawful level design or atrocious enemy placement here that could possibly cripple the entire experience! BEST IN THE SERIES!
You're like a spoiled rich kid, who gets everything bought for you your entire life. And then when it comes to making it on your own, you can't take it! You expect everyone to love you, because you are who you are: part of the illustrious Souls lineage. Nothing could possibly be wrong with you! You look just like a Souls game...but you're not one! You're a pampered, doughy snob wearing nice clothes, expecting to graduate scot-free because your daddy's an Alum. Why would you need to improve? Why would you need to get any better? Everyone just agrees with your s***ty ideas because you're a Souls game!
"rage builds" F**K YOU, DARK SOULS II! F**K YOU!!!
Dark Souls II: "sobs loudly"-
Saved!AramondeEditing … Ulty did i ever show you this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UScsme8didI This guy is one of the best at analyzing games imo.

Saved!UltyEditing … Yeah I already saw it, that guy is awesome! After completing Dark Souls II, almost everything he says rings true.
