Gabe Newell: 'Hooray! Valve's going to start shipping games again'
    https://www.pcgamer.com/gabe-newell-hooray-valves-going-to-start-shipping-games-again/
Valve was "jealous of Nintendo," now has the expertise to "develop hardware and software simultaneously."

"At a presentation for upcoming Dota 2-themed card game Artifact at Valve's offices in Bellevue, Washington today, Gabe Newell reiterated that Valve is getting back into developing new games beyond its current roster of multiplayer titles. After talking about Valve's focus on Steam and hardware during the past several years, which he described as "an investment in the future", Newell said "Artifact is the first of several games that are going to be coming from us. So that's sort of good news. Hooray! Valve's going to start shipping games again.""

What surprises me most is the heavy breathing and moist eyes that have suddenly struck me.

Valve has donated OpenVR to the Khronos Group, like AMD did with Mantle.

If all goes well, we shall have more unity in the VR scene or whatever

Remember when Valve made games like Half Life, Left4Dead and Portal, instead of shilling out skins and keys in a mediocre multi-player shooter making money off of unregulated and under age gambling. Remember when it was a positive to be on Steam, instead of it being flooded with more effortless, copy paste, rip offs than mobile storefronts. Until Valve decides to make any effort to absolutely anything of value they're easily one of the worst publishers/companies in gaming, but no Valve is still the internet's darling instead their hate is directed toward EA, or Ubisoft who while not perfect is doing far more good than Valve has in years. https://youtu.be/jNLemHpDQ60

Editing … I don't have any complaints about Steam. The sales are great and even the rest of the year the normal prices are far more reasonable than PSN/XB1 and as the games get older the prices drop as quickly as retail copies do. It's what digital gaming should be. I'm definitely curious what kind of games Valve have been working on since Portal 2 but them taking their time seems far better to me than Ubisoft/EA/Activision milking their big franchises annually and never making big improvements.

But Valve gets away with charging $2.50 for a random skin, any other publisher would get burned at the stake for that kinda of absurd nonsense. Turtle Rock got hammered for Evolve but not Valve, Valve is faultless. And because of their greed things like this are now popping up.

    PAID MODS
Jesus Christ, even EA went after sites that tried charging for mods (Sims)!
Oh, and guess what-- if you mention anything about the Nexus, you get a community ban! Fuck you, Valve!

Half-Life introduced narrative and story telling for FPS, it also had AI that would fight each other. Half-Life 2 is still the standard today for single player campaigns, it has the first real physics interactions in gaming, it introduced top quality facial animations and overall incredible graphics. The Half-Life series set the bar for single player FPS games.

Counter-Strike is the number 1 online action game series. It's success revolves on its skill-based game-play and clever maps.

Team Fortress 2, despite being 6 years old, is still one of most played FPS today. It has been VALVe's playground for experimentation and is now one of the most versatile FPS to exist. It introduced community-created content as part of a game.

Portal series is the most innovative FPS experience in recent years, if not of all time. It's an entirely new kind of experience with great humour and clever design. You are now thinking with portals.

The Left4Dead series showed us what coop meant.
