I know there's one builder game out there that'll let me create something that really, really doesn't fucking matter at all but that I'd be really proud of like some kind of hard drug to the extent that I'd end up treating that save file like some priceless artifact.

Am I missing out? What games would you guys recommend?

Then again, the only builder games I've ever really played was SimCity 2000 and SimCity 3 and in hindsight I don't get the sense that any of my cities were fundamentally different from any other city someone playing would make. They are all, more or less, a random but mostly uniform assortment of roads and zoning. Much of the rest is purely on a per need basis. "High crime here better add a police station. Low crime here, don't add a police station." How would other builder games be fundamentally any different? What's more, I vastly preferred Command & Conquer series over Sim City. Although I wonder if a part of me treated both as builder games. After all everyone knows the base missions are more fun.

I really want the achievement for building a big settlement because it's one of the very few I don't have, but it's never gonna happen.

Damn, group voice calls are working really well. Why is Steam not advertising this feature more? None of my friends knew about it and I also only found out about it recently. They should launch a "Why use Discord when you can use Steam voice calls?" ad campaign or something. It also seems to be much more stable than Twitter Spaces and has more options.

pc gaming sounds like complete ass tbh, seeing this article makes me glad I don't engage with it
    https://screenrant.com/oblivion-remastered-mod-press-space-to-confirm/

The funny thing is, it's not even as though console gaming isn't rife with its own version of shit like this. Like for example how Mega Man games still make you press start button to change weapon (Maybe in thirty more years they will fix that) or how Mario games still don't natively use any shoulder button to jump. (give it maybe another twenty years) But at least those don't require growing an extra hand.

This is a big budget, celebrated game studio with 25 year history, that literally have been making games for a demographic that play with left hand on WASD and right hand on mouse, and are apparently only just finding out that they play like that. The fix comes in the form of an unofficial mod. For a re-released game. *facepalm* THEY HAD LITERALLY AT LEAST TWO CHANCES TO FIX IT. xD

Editing … Oh wow, I hate when games actually require me to press Enter. Shoulder buttons to jump though, is that common? I thought people preferred pressing A, but a shoulder button would allow players to jump without releasing their thumb from their camera control. On PC, I use spacebar.

Why it might be a bad idea to get a Steam deck, any portable gaming PC, or possibly any handheld moving forward, Switch 2 included.
    https://metro.co.uk/2024/07/24/steam-deck-fans-refuse-end-weirdest-trend-gaming-21289758/amp/

Anyone remember the fumes the original Game Boy let out? Oh that's right it didn't.
That said I noticed the Switch Lite has air vents. I wonder if that had effed me up any. But it doesn't have fans I don't think.
But I bought a used Switch Lite recently and I noticed that the heat from operation starts to bake whatever perfume/disinfectant was on it and it becomes really noticeable.

Someones offering their barely used 512gb steam deck for 410 usd. Should I take it? I didn't imagine I'd ever get a steam deck so this would be rather out of pocket for me. Don't even know what I'd play on it that would actually run decently. Pizza Tower? lol
