In retrospect, this wasn't a terrible album. Many of the songs build on the garage rock ideas from The Best Little Secrets. Unfortunately, Slick Dogs and Ponies just didn't sound as fun. All the whimsical sexual innuendos and the badassery attitude was replaced by some awkward David Bowie impersonations, among other things. Oh well.
