I should just stick to racers seeing as that's all I want to play. It's my comfort food.
After all I got a 360 exclusively to play racers. And the controller makes me want to actually hook up the console and use it.. to play racers.
I am also thinking of hooking up my PS3 for old time's sake. Why though? To take photos of my cars. So, yeah, racers again. Although there are a couple of games I'm thinking of replaying. Ridge Racer and NFS Undercover. Both racers. Although I could grind TNT Racers for trophies or catch up on Split Second which I still haven't played. Oops, those are racers too.

Deluxe editions suck! Nowadays each time you want to buy a game, you have to go out of your way to check if a deluxe edition exists and get that instead, which is a hassle because typing in the name of a game brings up ALL THE FUCKING DLC in addition to the game itself and the deluxe edition, which is sometimes way down the list for some god forsaken reason. What's hilarious is that this is true on dekudeals.com as well, not just the PS4 and Playstation Store.

Even if you buy the deluxe edition though, it gives you a choice whether to download the DLC or not. Oh for the love of..
I don't know, dude! I like it better at least when there are two downloads: the game itself, and exactly one piece of DLC titled "deluxe edition content/upgrade". Thank you!! When there are any more choices than that, and I no idea what it is. then I feel stonewalled.

And once downloaded onto your PS4 it's hard to tell whether you have the DLC installed as well unless you somehow happen to remember whether you checked off the DLC choices. Definitely a bad thing if you have limited hard drive space and happen to redownload games often.

Honestly I'm considering just ignoring DLC content altogether. (barring obvious exceptions like fighting games) I don't want to pay to make the game easier, only better. But it's often unclear which of those things a piece of DLC actually accomplishes.

Plus, when you start a game nowadays instead of just going to the title and hitting start (clean!) you're instead bombarded with notification after notification of all the DLC you have, as if I'm going to remember all that. Just shut the fuck up and let me experience the game already. *letmeinmeme.gif* Assuming there is a game to speak of at this point as opposed to every game merely a vessel for a patchwork of content that a given user can elect to buy in whatever combination.

Editing … It's the prices that put me off. Very, very, very few games are worth the price of a deluxe version on PS store.

Editing … I own seven deluxe versions and all of them were under 18 dollars, two of them being under eight bucks. So I don't really have issue with the price. The most I paid for a deluxe version was Project Cars 3 which was 28.49. I agree with you however when it's a new release and the deluxe version is like ninety bucks. Ew. Maybe if the game was like, really good. But imagine someone actually paying 90 for, let's say, Final Fantasy Origin. x-P

Deluxe includes the 'mechanic pass'. I have no idea what that is. Welp, looks like this game can go eff off as well. I'll stick to Need for Speed and Project Cars for now.

Editing … I wonder if I should get GT7 on PS4. I'd be getting it mainly so I'd be caught up with the series.(assuming I get GT Sport as well which is only 20 bucks) Kinda weird to shell out $$$ just for that reason but maybe it's worth it. Oh.. I should get GT Sport first, then decide.

I have a PS4 now. Haven't said anything until now, because so far I've only been trying various demos. I also got some disc games I haven't even tried yet (Horizon and Red Dead 2) and a PSN copy of Uncharted collection that was free for a while during the pandemic. I also bought the Need for Speed games and Ace Combat 7. I tried playing the NFS games but it asks me for my EA account. (So much for the days when you can buy a game, and, y'know, just play it.) I will probably get to playing them later but thus far I haven't really found anything that clicks with me.

    Demo impressions:
Code Vein - spent like, an hour creating my character. Tuned out immediately afterwards.
Final Fantasy Origin - My health always falls to 0 before I even know it. Your party says the same voice clips over and over. I can only see myself playing the game on double casual difficulty but I unno if it's even worth it at that point.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake - I literally never even left the train station. It keeps interrupting me with more tutorials to read and I was fed up after the third one. (in which you pause the game to cast spells, like Secret of Mana on the SNES, lol) There should have been a room with like, thirty or more Shinra guards that keep respawning while tutorials appear on screen without interrupting the action.
Gravity Rush 2 - Any enthusiam I had toward this game left my body within moments of playing the demo. It just doesn't feel the same. The first game's location vibed hard in its foreboding M.C. Escher-esque locations and the writing just seemed better. It's also weird to have a console entry without voiced dialogue.
Kingdom Hearts 3 - Goofy and Donald shouldn't exist. Any conversation between the two of them and Sora is drivel/fluff and is just there for "character".
King of Fighters 14 - I found that you CAN use a Vita as a literal fight pad, thanks to remote play. The input lag and other drawbacks only apply to the Vita screen, not the TV. At the end of the day though I'm going through all these hoops just to play a fighting game, which I'm not really in the mood for at the moment.
Nier Automata - This is nothing more than a linear beatemup at least judging by the demo. Not what I expected at all.
Project Cars 2 - pick an event and race. No career mode, car upgrading or anything like that. Pretty sad.
    South Park Fractured - no
Street Fighter V - long load times are LONG
Tales of Arise - wow. It's awful.

Editing … Grid Legends is on sale for the first time ever. 40.19. Maybe I'll pick it up, Can't really regret trying a new Grid entry, even if turns out to suck. Although, in that case, Project Cars 3 is also on sale, shouldn't I get that too? Decisions decisions..

I realized I had a 2TB external hard drive that I wasn't really using all that much so I transferred what I had on it to another one and formatted it for my PS4. Wow, I should've done this ages ago. Currently downloading all the 191 games in my PS4 game library. (Mostly PS+ freebies over the years)

I think I might leave my TV and PS4 in the storage unit while I go off to explore Denver for a few months. I've been spending too much time playing dumb games like Fortnite and watching Netflix rotting my brain with low brow content. I'd still bring my Vita and have my PC for some gaming action but would be able to limit my use by battery life. It would give me a chance to read some shit and maybe get out and talk to real human beans.

Went to Game X Change and traded for Shadow of Mordor, Doom, and Resident Evil 7 for PS4. I have decent hopes for all of them.

Game X Change is better than Gamelot. The Buy 2 Get 1 Used Game Free sale they had going on still counted even when you're trading, which Gamelot wouldn't do.
