PlayStation 4
The PlayStation 4 (officially abbreviated as PS4) is a home video game console from Sony Computer Entertainment. Announced as the successor to the PlayStation 3 during a press conference on 20 February 2013, it was launched on 15 November 2013, in North America, and 29 November 2013, in Europe and Australia. It competes with Nintendo's Wii U and Microsoft's Xbox One, as one of the eighth generation of video game consoles. Moving away from the more complex Cell architecture of its predecessor, the PlayStation 4 features an AMD x86-64 Accelerated Processing Unit, in hopes of attracting a broader range of developers and support for the system. The PlayStation 4's GPU can perform 1.843 teraflops. Sony calls the PlayStation 4 "the world's most powerful console" and, speaking to Edge magazine, numerous game developers described the performance difference between the PS4 and Xbox One as "'significant' and 'obvious'". Sony intends more focus on social gameplay, incorporating a "share" button o …

Saved!I should just stick to racers seeing as that's all I want to play. It's my comfort food.
After all I got a 360 exclusively to play racers. And the controller makes me want to actually hook up the console and use it.. to play racers.
I am also thinking of hooking up my PS3 for old time's sake. Why though? To take photos of my cars. So, yeah, racers again. Although there are a couple of games I'm thinking of replaying. Ridge Racer and NFS Undercover. Both racers. Although I could grind TNT Racers for trophies or catch up on Split Second which I still haven't played. Oops, those are racers too.-
Saved!NodleyEditing … My comfort food is food. Lots of it

Saved!Deluxe editions suck! Nowadays each time you want to buy a game, you have to go out of your way to check if a deluxe edition exists and get that instead, which is a hassle because typing in the name of a game brings up ALL THE FUCKING DLC in addition to the game itself and the deluxe edition, which is sometimes way down the list for some god forsaken reason. What's hilarious is that this is true on dekudeals.com as well, not just the PS4 and Playstation Store.
Even if you buy the deluxe edition though, it gives you a choice whether to download the DLC or not. Oh for the love of..
I don't know, dude! I like it better at least when there are two downloads: the game itself, and exactly one piece of DLC titled "deluxe edition content/upgrade". Thank you!! When there are any more choices than that, and I no idea what it is. then I feel stonewalled.
And once downloaded onto your PS4 it's hard to tell whether you have the DLC installed as well unless you somehow happen to remember whether you checked off the DLC choices. Definitely a bad thing if you have limited hard drive space and happen to redownload games often.
Honestly I'm considering just ignoring DLC content altogether. (barring obvious exceptions like fighting games) I don't want to pay to make the game easier, only better. But it's often unclear which of those things a piece of DLC actually accomplishes.
Plus, when you start a game nowadays instead of just going to the title and hitting start (clean!) you're instead bombarded with notification after notification of all the DLC you have, as if I'm going to remember all that. Just shut the fuck up and let me experience the game already. *letmeinmeme.gif* Assuming there is a game to speak of at this point as opposed to every game merely a vessel for a patchwork of content that a given user can elect to buy in whatever combination.-
Saved!NodleyEditing … It's the prices that put me off. Very, very, very few games are worth the price of a deluxe version on PS store. -
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I own seven deluxe versions and all of them were under 18 dollars, two of them being under eight bucks. So I don't really have issue with the price. The most I paid for a deluxe version was Project Cars 3 which was 28.49. I agree with you however when it's a new release and the deluxe version is like ninety bucks. Ew. Maybe if the game was like, really good. But imagine someone actually paying 90 for, let's say, Final Fantasy Origin. x-P -
Saved!NodleyEditing … I just had a look, Gran Turismo 7 Deluxe £89.99. Absolutely no way on earth I am paying that for a vidya game. £20 used or old sounds fair to me. -
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … speaking of which, I still find it hard to believe GT7 is on both PS4 and PS5. At least, it's the first time this has happened for a GT game. -
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … oh and guess what. Grid Legends has both a regular and deluxe edition too. Somehow I failed to notice until now. Both are on sale. I don't know which one to get. Deluxe includes the 'mechanic pass'. I have no idea what that is. Welp, looks like this game can go eff off as well. I'll stick to Need for Speed and Project Cars for now. -
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I wonder if I should get GT7 on PS4. I'd be getting it mainly so I'd be caught up with the series.(assuming I get GT Sport as well which is only 20 bucks) Kinda weird to shell out $$$ just for that reason but maybe it's worth it. Oh.. I should get GT Sport first, then decide. -
Saved!NodleyEditing … Don't get GT sport. It's kind of ok but not good. GT7 has much more stuff in it

Saved!I have a PS4 now. Haven't said anything until now, because so far I've only been trying various demos. I also got some disc games I haven't even tried yet (Horizon and Red Dead 2) and a PSN copy of Uncharted collection that was free for a while during the pandemic. I also bought the Need for Speed games and Ace Combat 7. I tried playing the NFS games but it asks me for my EA account. (So much for the days when you can buy a game, and, y'know, just play it.) I will probably get to playing them later but thus far I haven't really found anything that clicks with me.
Demo impressions:
Code Vein - spent like, an hour creating my character. Tuned out immediately afterwards.
Final Fantasy Origin - My health always falls to 0 before I even know it. Your party says the same voice clips over and over. I can only see myself playing the game on double casual difficulty but I unno if it's even worth it at that point.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake - I literally never even left the train station. It keeps interrupting me with more tutorials to read and I was fed up after the third one. (in which you pause the game to cast spells, like Secret of Mana on the SNES, lol) There should have been a room with like, thirty or more Shinra guards that keep respawning while tutorials appear on screen without interrupting the action.
Gravity Rush 2 - Any enthusiam I had toward this game left my body within moments of playing the demo. It just doesn't feel the same. The first game's location vibed hard in its foreboding M.C. Escher-esque locations and the writing just seemed better. It's also weird to have a console entry without voiced dialogue.
Kingdom Hearts 3 - Goofy and Donald shouldn't exist. Any conversation between the two of them and Sora is drivel/fluff and is just there for "character".
King of Fighters 14 - I found that you CAN use a Vita as a literal fight pad, thanks to remote play. The input lag and other drawbacks only apply to the Vita screen, not the TV. At the end of the day though I'm going through all these hoops just to play a fighting game, which I'm not really in the mood for at the moment.
Nier Automata - This is nothing more than a linear beatemup at least judging by the demo. Not what I expected at all.
Project Cars 2 - pick an event and race. No career mode, car upgrading or anything like that. Pretty sad.
South Park Fractured - no
Street Fighter V - long load times are LONG
Tales of Arise - wow. It's awful.-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Grid Legends is on sale for the first time ever. 40.19. Maybe I'll pick it up, Can't really regret trying a new Grid entry, even if turns out to suck. Although, in that case, Project Cars 3 is also on sale, shouldn't I get that too? Decisions decisions.. -
Saved!NodleyEditing … Project Cars 2 is superb! It's got a career mode. FFVII remake isn't worth leaving the train station it's pure garbage. You get in a hurricane made of ghosts. Yep, a fucking hurricane. Of fucking ghosts. -
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Maybe I'd get Project Cars 3 now and pick up Project Cars 2 next time it goes on sale, depending on how much I enjoyed 3. I should also get an external drive because my PS4 only has 400 gig capacity. 5TB should do. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VS8QCXC/ -
Saved!NodleyEditing … I tried formatting a 3tb for ps4 and it wouldn't work. I did everything as it said but it never recognised it. So now it's holding about 1000 movies and plugged into the TV in the front room.
-
-
Saved! My PS4 officially decided to punish me for neglecting its optical disc drive for the last ~6 months by not recognizing any discs anymore. Bummer.
-
-
Saved!WoodrowShigeruEditing … Just in time when the PS5 became preorderable. Strange coincidence … -
-
-
Saved!I realized I had a 2TB external hard drive that I wasn't really using all that much so I transferred what I had on it to another one and formatted it for my PS4. Wow, I should've done this ages ago. Currently downloading all the 191 games in my PS4 game library. (Mostly PS+ freebies over the years)
-
-
Saved!ExplojinEditing … Yea, and I probably haven't played like 90% of them. Should be some fun to be had. -
-
Saved!ExplojinEditing … Me too, I bought all those humble bundles up until number 8. I have 100+ Steam games and I believe I've played three of them. Sword & Sorcery, Super Hexagon, and Hotline Miami. -
Saved!WoodrowShigeruEditing … My played-to-owned ratio isn't quite as high, but I still feel overwhelmed. Heck, I might play a game this weekend.
-
-
Saved!I think I might leave my TV and PS4 in the storage unit while I go off to explore Denver for a few months. I've been spending too much time playing dumb games like Fortnite and watching Netflix rotting my brain with low brow content. I'd still bring my Vita and have my PC for some gaming action but would be able to limit my use by battery life. It would give me a chance to read some shit and maybe get out and talk to real human beans.
-
Saved!Flash sale on PSN right now.
-
Saved!Went to Game X Change and traded for Shadow of Mordor, Doom, and Resident Evil 7 for PS4. I have decent hopes for all of them.
Game X Change is better than Gamelot. The Buy 2 Get 1 Used Game Free sale they had going on still counted even when you're trading, which Gamelot wouldn't do. -
Saved!Holy hell, it just occurred to me how many PS4 exclusives we're getting in the first quarter of 2017. #Yakuza 0, #NieR: Automata, #Nioh, #Horizon: Zero Dawn and #Persona 5 are the ones I can think of. Hopefully they all turn out good. When is the last time any console had such an amazing year for exclusives? I'd reckon 2009 with the PS3. With any luck 2017 will also bless us with the Last of Us part II, God of War, Spider-Man, or Death Stranding, though I won't hold my breath.
-
Saved!Rich .Editing … None of those interest me to be honest so yeah, hopefully we get the Last of Us 2 or Spider-Man (Insomniac). -

Saved!SandvichEditing … That may not be representative. GTAV has been on sale for $30 across a bunch of outlets in Canada for the last couple weeks, but eventually it will shoot back up to $70. It's like they refuse to do an official across the board price drop. 70M copies sold just aint enough I guess.
