Hey guys, here's a fun topic: who do you prefer to play as in L4D and L4D2?
Go ahead and list two characters, one from each cast. Why do you prefer your picks, too?

Editing … Can't confirm anything about the console version. Microsoft even forced them to charge money for what was a free update on the PC version (which might have included the addition of all L4D1 content). You could blame Microsoft for many of the shitty practices that started in the 7th gen.

A Valve employee released this in a tutorial, which also includes a little... well, look around http://www.valvetime.net/attachments/tristan-l4d3-folder-tease-png.25628/

Editing … I dislike Valve now, I'm so tired of them. Everyone loves Valve "oh they made Portal and Half Life etc etc. They don't make games anymore I'm convinced. Every once and awhile there are these cryptic little leaks for the last half a decade for games they might not even be making and then nothing happens nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if they're not making Portal 3, Half Life 3, or Left4Dead3. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they literally aren't making any games right now.

Editing … Who knows they could release Portal 3, HL3, and L4D3 at once it wouldn't really surprise me. I'm all for devs talking as long as they need(Rockstar, Bethesda etc.) but either show something or go away until your ready to. This game they've been playing for 5-10 years is wearing real thin and to me comes off as pretentious. "Oh let's just leak this thing they'll eat it up, we won't have to say anything for another year, we can just make money off of CS crates and never have to make another game and they still love us"

Editing … It would most likely never happen but it would explain were they've been for so long. I mean it's been 12 years since a full Half Life game, 12! 5 since Portal and 7 since L4D. Not one of those takes even the 5 years it's been since Portal 2. We're have they been? 7-12 years is what you usually see for games in development hell, games that switch publishers or developers. That obviously hasn't happened here so where are the games? I might actually be convincing myself this is possible lol.

Editing … Valve used to deliver a decent volume of quality games, so this period of "just eSports!" is odd. I'm convinced they're trying to come up with something new--look at Valve's other games, and look at their behind the scenes. I don't think they'd be comfortable pulling a Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Battlefield. They probably want to be more fresh.

Editing … http://www.polygon.com/2015/3/18/8253189/gabe-newell-valve-half-life I just don't think they're interested. I think it could just be Steam, MP, microtransactions, VR and that's it. Why make games when you can sell crates of skins and people for some reason don't hate you like EA or Ubi.

Editing … I guess I have a bit too much faith in people who work in the industry, I imagine most of them actually care for their art form. For every Michael Bay, there's a Martin Scorsese (because there's only one of each). But what I mean is that these people chose this career for a reason. Some might realize it's not what they'd always dreamed of, but some are probably working to make their visions a reality. Look at Remedy-- I just can't imagine they're only in it for the money. They'd never do Alan Wake or Max Payne wrong just to make a quick buck, and Valve wouldn't do that with Gordon Freeman or Chell.

Editing … I recently heard Steven Spielberg give a speech, and from his history, it just seems so obvious that he actually cares about making art. Sure, there's EA, but I'd imagine that the studios working under them actually want to make great content.

Editing … Yea I'm usually more positive and trusting towards developers and publishers. I agree completely with your statement about studios under EA or any big publishers, people far to often lose sight of that and insult someone like Ubisoft as if it's one guy or one studio. Something about Valve is puzzling though can't quite put my finger on it.
