Speaking of journalism, most of the national news is s**t. First of all, they're not supposed to focus on s****y 24/7 Trump coverage, but they do it anyways. The real editors are "supposed" to come up with a wide range of topics. That never happens today. The real practice of journalism is an art, but that art is...supposedly owned by corrupt corporations at the moment. I'm not lying. There's actually an article about it, but I really need to dig into my memory bank.

Forgive me for my rant. I hate modern news. And most of the good writers hate how journalism has...literally declined in evolution.

As a former freelance writer, I've reported on a lot of random, local city council politics. And I learned two things. First, the public hearings in city council meetings take too damned long. Sometimes, there are these random homeless people who just ramble for 30 minutes. (I just call them homeless because they literally waste time talking about anything but the current agenda item) Second, the council members love to make a lot of the controversial agenda items private.

I would have tried to get in their face more often, but most of my employers were paying the writers and photographers below minimum wage for 40 hours a week. And I felt like I had to be in the elite club to get any chance of a promotion. Sigh. I loved my job, but journalism is dying fast. Bleh.

Editing … In school, we learned that it's important to stay impartial. In the real job, it's important to stay "impartial." Or as I like to call it, on the editor's good side.

Editing … The worst part is that I came so close to landing a really good writing position, but the newspaper ended up choosing the girl who lived closer to the workplace. I'm not gonna talk smack though--she was a good writer.

Editing … And...my hometown's local paper went down the s****er. The newspaper owner fired most of the writers so...f*** it. One of the writers literally won a Pulitzer Prize...months after getting laid off. Lol.
