TIL that permanent marker does not come off of a whiteboard. Like, at all.

Now I wish I had the foresight when testing this to draw a much smaller line near the corner of the whiteboard instead of two big ones smack dab in the middle. Then the line wouldn't intrude too much and I could even edit it out. As it stands, I ruined a whiteboard. Shame, i really liked that whiteboard. And I have yet to find a similar one on ebay.

So I don't forget, the dimensions are 17 x 11. (Althrough the actual drawing surface is slightly less than 16 x 10) That's in inches btw. You probably haven't heard of them. /hipsterglasses
EDIT: so I don't forget. The brand was Bazic, I think.

Editing … Permanent marker just needs more wiping to get off a whiteboard. I've done it a few time. Spit on it then wipe it with a baby wipe.

Editing … It is permanent marker. It is supposed to no come off, but if you know the base chemical of your marker you will then know what chemical to use to remove it. Usually it's alcohol. Sometimes it's benzene or acetone or something more obscure. If your board is cheap and has a bit rough surface or the surface is porous it will be difficult to get it out. The pigments could get stuck, even if you use solvents. The longer you leave the mark the more time it will have to absorb. I have no way of telling all the way over here what will help you and your specific board. But I know if I accidentally write with permanent marker on my board it comes off with alcohol. The rest is up to you and a little elbow grease. And if it doesn't come out completely who cares. You can still use it. Or throw it in the landfill and get another one. Up to you. Why are you using permanent markers on a whiteboard though? That's not how they are supposed to be used.

Editing … This already sounds like a week long project, and even if it do manage to get it off, the board will probably smell of alcohol afterwards, will have grooves or dents in that particular spot from being pressed on too hard, and may also suffer water damage. (well, more water damage than usual) So I wouldn't be able to use it anyway.

Editing … "week long project" you can try to wipe it off with alcohol or benzine and that takes literally 5 minutes. If it doesn't budge you know it will be more work. If you have alcohol lying around you can give it a try, but sounds like you just want a new one anyway. "smell of alcohol " No. Pure alcohol dissipates into the air very quickly. "water damage" what kind of cheap board are you using? They are supposed to be made out of metal sheet. Is yours made out of lamented cardboard?

I was thinking of taking up drawing as a hobby. I've always been a fan of animation, and I was always relatively decent at Art classes in school. I did make it into a University of Art after all (Even though I flunked) XD

Might set myself the goal of an hour's drawing each week, see what comes out of it.
