    In a word: stiff.

The vehicle animations feel a bit stiff and unpolished. The facial expressions are there but … they don't quite get out of the uncanny valley for me. And those cyborgs that have complete head replacements are completely static. They could have at least emoted with lights for eyes or something. And this two-horn character is just way too annoying, given how much screentime he has. And the storytelling feels kinda rushed, character development more "told than shown", somuchso that I can't really emotionally follow … or buy … when they say towards the end things like Spoiler"you gave us purpose".

As for the male protagonist, I don't like having such a mechanical (and cool) looking character design be paired with a normalo voice, but that is the case here.

I don't know the original all too well, but I just like to look at some of these awesome cyborg and mech designs. Masamune Shirow did well on that, back then. It looks good in 3D, x years later.

Overall, this movie was *just* interesting enough to make me keep going. 5.5/10
