Saved!I think I may have found the greatest all time twitter account. Fucking lmao
https://x.com/ChatgptLunatics/status/1935760743795679452 -
Saved!Amazon is buggin out, anyone know what's wrong? I can't log in, when I do it just takes me back to the home page sogned out.
I download the app to see if that works. I am logged in but every time I view my cart it says "sorry something went wrong on our end" and a picture of a dog. The weird thing is I was able to view my cart once but after the first time it's just the same error.
Have I been soft banned from amazon or something??-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Oh, something did happen. https://www.geekwire.com/2024/amazon-com-checkout-goes-down/
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … Were you also outraged? I am outraged that people use Amazon. Even Ali express is better nowadays. With Ali express I have a better idea of what I'm actually getting and the reviews actually seem trustworthy. It's still mostly china shit though, but also lots of stuff I would never be able to find anywhere else.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Maybe I should create an account on there.. I'd still use Amazon mainly but Ali could be handy for some things. Depends what I'm buying really.
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … It's mainly handy if you need weird stuff from factories that you normally can't buy of if you need something cheap and the quality isn't that important. I also like the factory reject things that can't be used for their original purpose, but they still look cool as hell like full circular silicone wafers. You could have one of those over your mantelpiece or something. They look really pretty.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … The way I see it you're going to find aliexpress quality products no matter where you shop. It's better to have more options and find decent items that suit your needs best rather than being hung up on whether a certain product meets a chain store's "quality standards" (which is hilarious) or whether imaginary safety standards are being met. Also I think we are alike as I have a knack for using things not for their original purpose. Sometimes when I have a particular use case that a product doesn't yet exist for I try to think of various objects that currently do exist and are sold that would fit the bill, and repurpose them.
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … "The way I see it you're going to find aliexpress quality products no matter where you shop. " Sadly yes. I've seen many identical products sold here on the Dutch amazon-like web store and if I go on aliexpress I can find the same product for literally 5 times cheaper. "quality standards" are important though for for certain things. Like electrical parts, if you repair a device with a faulty part that just does not correctly adhere or seal an electrical wire, you could really set things on fire. So if you really need something to perform well over time and not degrade rapidly, the only thing you can really trust is established high quality brands sold in stores.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … They make dry erase notebooks. Holy cow!! I'll take ten!! But on the other hand.. getting them to stay flat might be annoying. The way they're designed, I imagine the book will be teetering along the spine in a half open position unless you place something on both pages to weigh them down.
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … I like paper. Never had any problems using pencil and paper technologies.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I cannot stand the feel of paper. Brown paper bags are fine though. (The surface of them have more of a textured feel which I guess I tolerate better?) I was considering buying paper bags in bulk and drawing on them.
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … You can buy regular textured paper you know. All sorts of paper. From ultra smooth to "fuck is this the surface of the moon?"

Saved! Are you guys still buying stuff on Amazon? I HAAAAAAATE how chinese vendors with their cheap-ass bulk produced crap is flooding the market. It's only good for comics and blurays at this point.
Look at this shit! They're asking for 200 € – and then they have the audacity to create this kind of bad-photoshop atrocity.
https://www.amazon.de/NNSMUN-Sofa%C3%BCberwurfe-Anti-rutsch-Wasserdicht-Sofaschoner/dp/B0CXNVZFD2/-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Yeah, Amazon is basically Aliexpress now. For anything that isn't a Chinese knockoff, retail or Ebay is generally cheaper than Amazon. Honestly the most useful part of Amazon for me is the wishlist. I'll wishlist books on Amazon, then buy them for a lot less on Ebay. Even most Prime-exclusive sales are more expensive than Ebay.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I tend to avoid any products listed on amazon that aren't sold by and shipped from Amazon. Unless it's something I really need that amazon doesnt sell directly. I bought a fleece blanket a while back, and the box had a pizza sauce stain on it. x_x (not the shipping box, but the box inside with the actual blanket.) Stay safe my friends.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … I mostly buy specialty food items on Amazon. Like vital wheat gluten became impossible to find in my area so my options are limited, and it's cheaper online then it ever was in stores. Drop shipping has become a huge issue, and I can't stand all the smarmy little punks on social media who thing they're innovative entrepreneurs for jumping on this bandwagon. It hasn't effected me much personally. Maybe I'm just overly cautious but looking back on my orders from the last five years I can only find a couple items that I regret buying.
-
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … There is a running issue with ebay that all the items there are actually from amazon. I don't care personally, but I often receive ebay items in amazon boxes and many users leave bad feedback complaining about it, often bc they don't want to support amazon, or just find it dishonest.
-
-
Saved!WoodrowShigeruEditing … Same thing, for sofa throwovers, at least: chust china bulk crap from "fake german" chinese vendors.
-
-
Saved!I checked some items on Black Friday, but a discount on Amazon still isn't as cheap as just buying an item from its brand's official webstore, or better yet, from Ebay. I remember years ago I would buy from Amazon all the time, but now I rarely have reason to do so. Their prices are just terrible.
The cheapest books on Amazon are always 1 cent + $3.99 shipping, but those sellers are listing the same books on Ebay for like $1.50 + free shipping. Electronics are usually hundreds of dollars cheaper if you get them anywhere but Amazon. Honestly, the most use I get out of Amazon now is in constructing my wishlist, so I can keep track of what to buy from other stores.-
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … Maybe Jeff Bezos also thinks Amazon sucks now. Maybe that's why he sold most of his shares.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … This is just like everything. Once a thing gets too big it becomes something else and loses what it was, Facebook, Netflix, Sky TV..... all shit now. I still use Amazon because it's convenient but it's not like the Amazon of old. It's a good target right now for an up and coming site to take over if somebody could put something together big enough.
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … Well... I don't think Jeff Bezos is the idealist type. I can only imagine financial incentives. Maybe he's leaving a sinking ship? Maybe he knows something?
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … It'll take years and years to build something to compete with Amazon though. I'm up for trying a smaller site, I'm sick of paying £4.99 delivery for everything.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … I'm fine with all my shopping being separated by storefront. I get clothes from Zara, and uh... well, I'm sure I buy other stuff too.
-
-
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … we have our own "large online store" here. They sell a few things in house but most of the things to buy are from stores over the whole country. Like a database of all the little stores everywhere. I like it more because you can pay after getting the package. Shipment is "free" but that doesn't mean anything because they usually calculate shipment in the price of the item. I almost never buy from amazon. I've always had bad experiences with them. I'd rather pay a little more and have a good experience and great customer service if something goes wrong with a product. But sometimes I cut out the middle man and buy from the individual stores because they are quite a bit cheaper.
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … I'm short but I'm wide. I'm 5ft 4(162cm for the euros) but a medium man size in clothes. I'm not fat either I'm just kind of built squat. Claire say's I'm a Neanderthal. Shopping for me is easy in one way - I buy medium stuff for everyday and it's all fine. But if I need to look smart I need the help of God. Nothing fits me. It's not even a case of shortening the legs either in a tailors I'm the oddest shape in the history of shapes since the penguin in the 1989 Batman.

Saved!I hate how Amazon is so flooded with chinese sellers and manufacturers – often disguiding themselves as western sellers, like "Oenbopo_StoreEU" … Then you go look up their address and it's Shenzen …
No wonder my bluetooth headset breaks after less than two years.-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Yeah, Amazon's starting to look more like Aliexpress. So is Etsy, actually.
-
Saved!SudertumEditing … Agree, trying to buy anything electronics type related is a pain. Usually ending up to get made in china at the end anyway...
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … Oh god yes. The etsy thing gets me the most because some people pretend their products are handmade but they just buy them from aliexpress. Etsy is the place you go to to escape mass produced crap but here it is anyway.

Saved!I left a user review on the shady creatine supplements I purchased. While I was at it, I went through my old reviews, about eight or ten of them, and decided to do some proofreading/tweaking, submitted edits for nearly all of them. I check back and noticed that one of my reviews disappeared! WHAT?!? And it's all because I decided to edit it! If I left it in its original state it would have stayed up! I guess the new submission reviewer this time had higher standard or was cranky. Whatever the case, my autistically coded weird criticisms/OCD were apparently not tolerated this time around.
All my other edits went live as far as I can tell. My review on the supplements also went live, as well as my review for a coffee table. So I have that going for me, at least. =P-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Sometimes I've had reviews that were up for months, and then taken down. I don't think any negative reviews I've written have stayed online.
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … most of mine are negative, my oldest one is negative and still up, although the manufacturer tried to bury it under more fake/bought positive ones
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … All my reviews are glowing 10/10s or ranting 1/10 never agains. I cannot be bothered to just simply like or dislike something so I don't bother.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Ever since I accepted my first paid review, I've been on an email list for more paid review offers. Usually I ignore them since I don't have any use for the actual products. Like right now I could review a dog shock collar.

Saved!I ended up getting so fed up with a manager putting me on work that I didn't want to do a few months back that I switched my shift. Since switching shifts this job is bliss. The new manager puts me on the jobs I'd like to do which are working with the robots or jam clearing the lines and they don't constantly badger me to move to other sections of the building. If I get to jam clear I can do that job whilst reading and listening to podcasts/music and it's a solitary job up on a platform. If I get robots it's constant work for the day but nothing overly strenuous or tedious. It has some variety that makes the day go by a bit faster and you never get new hires to work with because it requires certain training so the employees down there tend to know what they're doing. I've accrued a ton of time off so I'll be able to get up to the mountains for quite a few extended weekends this summer and I just couldn't be happier with my current employment situation. Now to just figure out what I'm going to do in terms of living on my own again... One step at a time.
-
Saved!KlemoibEditing … Good for you man. Sounds like you made things a lot better for yourself. Yes go to the mountains! Enjoy your summer! We don't have mountains here only flat land. I just pretend the ant hills are mountains.

Saved! So now you can't buy books through the Amazon app, you have to go open a web browser. What a stupid idea!
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … That's weird.. I googled it just now, supposedly it was done this way so amazon doesn't have to pay Apple a cut each time someone buys a book through the app. So I assume you're using an iPhone or iPad. (which is odd because I pegged you as an Android user)
-
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … well there's the Kindle app, maybe you have to use that. That's how I used to do it. I never used the regular Amazon app for anything. I prefer shopping on browser, since you get to, y'know, have multiple items open in separate tabs. The inability to do this made the app pretty useless imo. (not to mention other perks to using the browser, like being to copy/paste urls to items that I want on favslist! or other sites besides favlist)
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … OK, when I try to buy a book it says: To remain in compliance with the Google Play Store policies, you will no longer be able to buy new content from the app. You can build a reading list on the app and buy on Amazon website from your browser.
-
-
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … I might try that kindle app. It should get delivered to my kindle right, not just my phone?
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … It should be on all your devices I think? unno if you'd have to manually download it on each device. That may depend on your settings.
-
-
Saved!NodleyEditing … You've tried apps though right? A good mobile app optimised for a phone is head and shoulders above a browser.

Saved!Mandatory overtime days suck. I want my 4 day work week back. At least the paychecks will be nice the next few weeks...
-
Saved!WoodrowShigeruEditing … I hear ya. I've been working 9-11-hour days for two months in a row now. This is garbage … Do you work at Amazon now?
-
Saved!ExplojinEditing … Yea still working at Amazon. My normal workweek is four 10-hour days. But we have a mandatory OT day that they can tack on. They've added it the past three weeks. I wouldn't mind so much if it seemed busy but half the day I'm standing around waiting for work. There's no reason for me to be there. What do you do for work Woody?
-
Saved!WoodrowShigeruEditing … A mandatory overtime day! What the fuck?! — I develop websites, very similar to what I do for Favslist. Though, I'm looking for another job now; one that respects my spare time, boundaries and contract more.
-
Saved!ExplojinEditing … Yea the MET sucks but at least I get 4 day workweeks most of the year. Apart from the past few weeks they only added it twice since January.
-
-
Saved! After 4 weeks at this new building it's alright. I'm still waiting to find these Amazon warehouse horror stories... it's clean as hell and the work is a piece of cake. Building is only two months old so management seems pretty green, a mix of new hires and people brought over from other locations. Feels like a good environment to work my way up through pretty easily. Much better than the last building I was at where all the higher ups seemed to have held their positions for awhile and didn't look like much room for upward movement. The building is right next to a river I've paddled often and I can't wait for spring time when I can just pop my boat in the water after work for a quick evening jaunt. After bouncing around for a few years I think I might've found somewhere to stay awhile. Finally feeling hopeful about the future and having a bit of a plan.
