      Editing … Kickstarter is really cool, it's allowed some nice projects to come to fruition. Unfortunately it is the "ultimate pre-order," and unlike a conventional pre-order, you can't back out once you've put the money forth.       Editing … ... Shenmue III being good recent examples. I mean, yes, it's great that these games are able to be made now, but the whole point of Kickstarter is to give creators who lack resources, resources. And notoriety is a pretty valuable resource that a lot of creators with cool ideas to offer on kickstarter just don't have.       Editing … The thing about Kickstarter , as you mentioned, is that you can't get your money back and thus people are more willing to put their money into projects from people who have already proven that they can deliver on their products. While it is sad that unknown creators are having a harder time with their kickstarter projects, people have good reasons to be cautious with these. There have already been so many of these indie projects that have either failed to deliver what they promised or failed to deliver at all.
