I always loved this movie as a kid, even more than the first one. I loved that the first two films were long enough to pretty much not leave out anything that was in the books. It was a total conversion. Going back, I don't love the pre-Hogwarts or Basilisk bits, but there's an entire movie length's worth of pure gold in between. Much of it still wows me. The diary scene always gives me the good shudders. I also adore the visuals and effects more so than in the later films, being the weirdo that I am. Dobby's effects impress me more than Gollum's.
