It's an absolute travesty that I seem to be the only one on this site that has watched this series. If you want something thats a bit more grounded in reality and don't mind the pace being a little slow at the start I can't recommend this one enough.

It's about two brothers perusing their childhood dream of becoming astronauts, there are lots of cool 'serious' themes such as the elder/younger brother dynamic and dealing with terminal illness but it still manages to be quite funny when it's not in serious mode. The music is great as well.
