I've never watched a film that felt so rushed yet still too long. This movie is obnoxiously sappy and cloying and likes to whitewash Hawking. Hawking's anti-social behavior is seen as cute and witty instead of downright mean (which it is). Trying to pass this off as a tragic love story is a joke because the writers/director have no concept of what a relationship is. They just watched a Lifetime original movie once and decided that they could probably write a film where it's a key theme. Spoilers: They couldn't.

In addition, the movie seems to find the idea that Hawking could walk at some point fascinating because the camera spends a dizzying amount of time looking at his feet. The movie had no idea which issues to address in Hawking's life (personal?, public?, scholarly?) so instead you get a hodgepodge of everything which leads to a half-baked film.

Also every single shot looks like a teenager's Instagram so there's that.
