I tried SNES9x Euphoria again, turns out the performance sucked because the frameskip was set to 3 by default, I changed it to 0 and it ran beautifully. Did I solve it after all this time?

In order to cinch it, I thought I'd try beating the first dungeon in Super Mario World which I have never been able to do on a PSP before without crashing the system. Why not right? I didn't expect any problems to occur, but it would be a historic moment. Anyway, I got all the way up to the first boss, and right upon entering the boss door, the entire screen became BLOOD RED. I immediately panicked and looked through the settings to see if there was one that might fix it, gave up and returned to the game to find out that yep, it froze as well. (I panicked because I thought I would die from not being able to see anything, but in the end I had nothing to worry about, lol)

never have I been so traumatized from an SNES game D=
