I am so tired of this.

-> creates new account, because no access to old e-mail account anymore
-> verification via e-mail and stuff works, can log-in and stuff
-> send a couple friend requests to my friends
-> gets locked out, requires phone verification
-> sends e-mail to discord support: "I have no phone"
-> discord support e-mail is no longer supported, have to use their website and their help request form
-> help request form requires phone number

This is biggest joke ever. Let's just say I create ANOTHER new account (of course, the cool username that I've chosen on the account that is now locked is gone) and very slowly re-build my friend list again (like one friend request per day) - how am I sure that Discord won't just randomly lock me out and require a phone number again?

Editing … For the help request form, maybe you can just use a random phone number. Whenever I need to provide a phone number or email to login to a wifi network, I always use like email@email.com and 555-555-5555.

Editing … When Microsoft needed a number to get my Bing rewards, and had an anti-VoIP policy, I used a friend's number. Is that an option? And does Discord work with VoIP numbers? Maybe you can find a good disposable number for online SMS. These were the two top results for "disposable SMS" for me on duckduckgo https://sms24.me https://smstome.com

Editing … Old accounts work without a phone number. But since my old account is tied to an e-mail-address I have no longer access to, I needed a new one. The new one worked for a short time, until I sent a couple friend requests. That's when Discord thought that I might be a bot.

Editing … I'm afraid you might have to just get with the times. The world is built for the majority. I regularly need my phone to confirm expensive purchases or log in somewhere I haven't been in forever. If I were you I'd buy an ancient phone with a pay as you go sim card and use that, it'll be a fiver or a tenner and then all options are open. You don't need to top it up so it's free after buying it.

Editing … well... technically, you are not wrong. My phone has even two SIM card slots, so I could make use of that. I wonder if I can get a SIM card and activate it without giving away my ID...

Editing … @Husky I can still log-in into my old Discord account just fine. But the e-mail-address connected to it is inaccessible to me, and can't be changed, because the authentication code gets sent to the OLD e-mail-address instead of the new one! Right now I can use Discord just like I normally would - until they randomly decide to log me out and require an authentication code sent to my old e-mail-address.

Editing … You might have to follow nod's advice and buy yourself a cheap burner number just for account verifications, and you might also be able to cheat your way back into your email with a photoshopped ID. I could just send you the French ID photo I've used. It won't work if they're discerning enough to check the ID with a database or whatever, or if they're discerning enough to notice the ID is obviously just an example image that's marked as a non-valid ID, but lots of sites asking for IDs really seem to accept just anything, even if it's mostly blurred out.

Editing … I just looked it up and because of German law, you HAVE to provide an ID - since 2017. Otherwise you will not be able to activate a SIM card - prepaid or not, doesn't matter. Privacy doesn't exist anymore, the Internet that I once knew is dead.

Editing … Thank you for your help, Husky. I'm not confident enough to risk it. Web.de uses a third-party service for ID verification, and asks for your address on top of it, AND the address must be the same as the one that was used when creating the e-mail account. Since I don't remember anymore what kind of fake address I put into that mail account when I registered it (I was 14 back then), it's pretty much over. I will wait for a month and see if the requirement gets lifted somehow, but I am not confident. That's why I'm trying to create new accounts (such as the Discord one) with new e-mail-addresses, which also doesn't work now because of phone verification!
