I'm not into how every huge TV show's becoming a TV franchise. It makes the idea of watching a show like Yellowstone seem daunting.

Editing … I found out a couple days ago that the original Star Trek lasted only 3 years, and that fan interest drove the networks to eventually bring it back. I had no idea. Always assumed it was this thousand episode affair kinda like Doctor Who. Star Trek actually seems watchable at this point. I could always decide after watching the original run whether I need to see the rest or not.

Editing … It just seems really weird to me that The Walking Dead has eight separate TV shows, or that Dexter has four shows. Any breakout hit has to receive not just one spinoff, but a franchise of spinoffs. Game of Thrones isn't gonna stop at three shows, they're gonna greenlight more.

Editing … Why focus on making one strong series when you can saturate the market and cash in on all that CONTENT. People will have to watch your franchise, if every show becomes your franchise.

Editing … Well, the Dexter prequel show about the Trinity Killer has been greenlit. Also, Prime has a recent TV franchise called "Citadel" with three shows in the past two years. I wonder if there'll be more.
