Instead of all the war movies and games that paint the Germans as evil nazis this is an honest view from a normal serving soldier. Most Germans were just normal caring people just like everybody else in the war.

I mean, of course they are normal people like us. But the victor writes the history and being English I've been conditioned to hate the nazis through media. Not just media too, my grandparents hated Germans too because they lived through the bombing.

But books like this bring it back into perspective, 99.9% of them weren't bad evil nazis, they just wanted to live and go about their normal lives again.
