Just found an Amazon order I did whilst drunk. I've ordered a Top Gun T shirt, an Atari T shirt, and a Cobra Kai T shirt.

I like drunk nod, he's cool, he has good taste! The 80s rock.

Editing … Do you guys remember the 80s? To me it wasn't the best decade. We lived in a council house on a rough estate. It was a real community though and I have lifelong friends but life was all a bit shit overrall compared to today. We had no central heating, no double glazing - we would wake up with ice on the inside of the window. Nobody had any money and we were all the same. The 90s were when people started getting a bit of money, more jobs became available. But saying that, things changed when people got more money. Bullying became more of a thing and peer pressure to have nice clothes etc. I guess the 80s were better than the 90s if you had enough money to live well and afford a house. Society seemed better to me, but I was just a kid and I'm relying on memories. The 90s were definitely better than today though, I know that for a fact. 80s films were the best too.

Editing … I wasn't born in the 80's but I've always had a distaste for everything 80s but I'm starting to warmup to it now (still can't stand 80's sax though). Your description sounds like early 90's too. But I also know the bullying for not having nice things. I had a rusty pink bike that I loved but the kids at school thought I should feel bad about the fact that is was rusty and old. (rusty bikes are the best though, they never get stolen) Clothes also. Huge deal then but still is I guess. Maybe even more so now.

Editing … I know kids from the 80s that never had a bike and can't ride one. We'd never bully a kid for having an old bike back in the day. I wonder what life was like in the 50s and 60 when my parents grew up? Was bullying such a thing? It's massive now, with mobile phones and internet you either fit in or get bullied at school. It's kinda sad because I can't give Isabella advice, I just don't know how to deal with modern school cunts. And I don't want her to bend to fit in, I want her to be herself like we got the freedom to be.

Editing … In fact back in about 1992 I got an old BMX bike, it was a wreck. I did it up and sprayed it black with spray paint and I wrote on the frame in silver paint "pills thrills and bellyaches" because I saw it in a motorcyle magazine on a harley or something. Everybody loved that bike, you just have to mention it in whatsapp and everybody remembers.

Editing … that sound like a nice bike. :-D Bullying is of all ages I think. The form just changes. It's just human nature. If you can't deal with your own feelings of inadequacy kids and even adults will try to bring someone down to make themselves feel or seem better. Maybe it's also a form of protecting established norms and culture? If you are the only one not participating in a certain group thing you are seen as rude and you will be reprimanded. I think it just gets worse when there is no strong community feel. A strong community can thrive even when there are people in it who are different. I found the only way to end bullying is either asserting your own dominance through violence or trying to fit in with the rest. Sad but true. Some kids will only learn through pain. The parents are even worse than the kids sometimes. You have no idea how vile and cruel some parents can act towards a 7 year old. Teachers too. Some are extremely sadistic and feel great having power over tiny little humans.

Editing … 80s wasn't great as a kid, only3 (!) tv channels, no gaming consoles any electronic was luxury anyway. Winter were cold and summer cool in comparision to nowadays. Going to cinema was special, 80s flicks are among my favorite, music pretty decent too. Going shopping was hard, due small timewindow then shop opened (law from ww1!) closing after 4pm (my rough recall). Adults were smoking everywhere, literally went nuts in train journeys.

Editing … Oh yeah, the smoke! I hated eating out anywhere, I was delighted when the no smoking law was introduced in Britain. I remember shops being shut on a Sunday too, and there was the odd one that might stay open till 8pm during the week but no 24/7 supermarkets like today. Some parts are definitely better today, but I don't feel the social community bond like the 80s at all, we're becoming more loners than ever. Another thing too, all the cars today! I remember my dad working on his car down Tickton Grove in Hull. There was maybe another 3 cars down the street, kids could play out on the front together and it was safe. You google maps it and put it on street view I bet there is cars lining the entire road and parked in front gardens everywhere. It seems like every house has 5 cars now.

Editing … Another thing, by 11pm the city was deserted. You would see the odd car on the main road but if you lived down a normal street not on a main road you wouldn't see or hear anything until the milkman came round at 5am. Nowadays everything is busy all night.

Editing … Shops are closed on Sundays here, only five exceptions announced this year to open. Remember times then 2pm on Saturdays city was deserted already due strict opening rules. Only gas stations are opened 24/7 in a non rural area now. Personal connections changed indeed, meeting people was only way for contacts as even having a telephone was not owned by default. Cars were pretty common in the 80s here already, don't threaten a german to take away favorite hobby.

Editing … I think shops were still closed here in most cities until about 7 years ago. Now Sunday is mostly a shopping day. But most villages still have their shops closed. I kind of liked the old Sunday but I like that the supermarkets are open now. That is the only shop that should be open on Sunday.

Editing … Supermarkets need to be open Sundays have you seen the state of Supermarkets on a Saturday? I'm glad I have mondays off! Or if I've been on earlies at work and wake up at 4am on a Saturday I'll go do my shopping then whilst it's fairly quiet. You can wait 5 to 10 minutes just to get in Asda carpark on a Saturday because of the queue just to buy fuel. Sunday closing just wouldn't work in this modern day.

Editing … I think the 80s only worked in the 80s. If suddenly life was exactly like the 80s again society would collapse. I guess if you are like Klem without a full time job or needing a car or unlike me relying on satellite navigation to do my job the 80s were better. I'd like to live the simple life again but it's easier to just get all the modern stuff than it is to live without it now. I think the 90s were definitely the best decade I lived in. Pre internet times meant real life friends and you'd go visit instead of texting. But we had the games consoles and there were more jobs about, at least in Britain, anyway. I would be happy to work 39 hours in a factory 400m up the road like my grandparents did then come home and see friends and family. Now everybody has to work overtime and Saturdays, life is far, far busier for the average person.

Editing … Agree, back to the 80s to live there? No way, it feels like a scary tale from a history book. For real hard to believe things changed that much since then. 90s feel way closer with gaming consoles, cable tv and vcr's are kind of related to nowadays. Working conditions were way worse back then (90s), lousy payments and ridicoulous expectations by default as jobs were rare.
