Whelp, Level-5 shut down its North American branch in Santa Monica. Sounds like people really hated working at that office. So now Level-5 might be out of commission outside of Japan.

Aside from missing out on Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds, this is fine. Sigh...

Editing … They are a terrible developer... to my knowledge the only decent thing they've made is Professor Layton. Which makes me wonder if that also sucks and I just hadn't noticed at the time.

Editing … I also still can't wrap my head around how much Yokai Watch plagiarizes Mega Man Star Force. I used to assume well people ignore it because of quality discrepancy. That was until I actually played the demos for the Yokai Watch games.

Editing … I think they may be some sort of racket, since all their games have anime cutscenes and they even got Studio Ghibli mixed up in it. Where do they get the money for this.

Editing … I don't know about now, but in the past Level-5 has released a bunch of classic games, including DQ8 and the Dark Cloud games.

Editing … I liked Dragon Quest 8 and 9. But they were working as publishers in that situation. I dunno, they spent way too much time on that kiddie anime aesthetic in their later years.

Editing … damnit, I was actually looking forward to trying 8, it's one of the only remaining 3DS games I was actually interested in trying. But I played 9 and hated it. Gave up after about ten minutes.

Editing … I don't know what you mean. Level-5 developed 8 and 9. They were published by Square.

Editing … Yeah, I lost my memory over Dragon Quest. Lol. All I know is that Chunsoft developed the first few Dragon Quest games. Lessee...then developer roles changed from Heartbeat in DQ 6 and 7 to Level-5 for 8 and 9. Yeah, Dragon Quest 9 was published by Nintendo in the U.S. That really confused me for the rest of the series.
