Some people might get annoyed by her style, but to be honest, M.I.A. really hooked me into hip-hop again. Her second album literally exploded with ethnic Sri Lankan flair and finesse. Peaches might have introduced her to sampling techniques, but M.I.A. took that style to another level by adding complex rhythms with ridiculously catchy sounds and guitar melodies. She might have lost her groove after four albums, but there's no question that her drum-and-bass beats and rap style were unlike any other rapper's at the time.
