Floored proved that Sugar Ray was in the music scene for the long haul. The band might have dabbled with nu metal ideas, but by the second album, the band grew more comfortable with the laidback raggae/punk scene around Long Beach and Huntington Beach. Sugar Ray was no longer just a metal band--they were the embodiment of the sunny surf rock in Southern California. These influences shined throughout Floored and the next album, 14:59.

Editing … Fly (featuring Super Cat) is a proper change of pace, I didn't expect that. It's alright.

Editing … Fly was actually the big "hit" off of the album, but they were trying all sorts of things with their new DJ. They couldn't get DJ Lethal--he went with Limp Bizkit. But it is worth noting that Lethal helped produce Sugar Ray's first album, so they probably wanted someone local who was similar to Lethal. And DJ Homicide in Pasadena was the perfect fit.
