This was as close as Quentin Tarentino ever got to making a big blockbuster movie franchise. Sure, it had all of his trademarks--the witty characters and the bloody violence. However, the first volume really set the stage for wild fights between Uma Thurman and...the world, apparently. And that included Chiaki Kyan from Battle Royale, who got to use a spiked ball and chain. Cool.
