Is this the first Nintendo console (besides the Virtual Boy, that doesn't count) not to have its own exclusive Zelda game?
I mean, Breath of the Wild will also be launching on Switch, and will probably always be thought of as a Switch game. Do we still count it as "a Wii U exclusive with a Switch rerelease?"
    NES: Zelda, Zelda 2
    SNES: Link to the Past
    GB: Link's Awakening
    N64: Ocarina, Majora
    GBC: Oracles
    GBA: Four Swords, Minish Cap
GC: Wind Waker, Four Swords Adventures
Wii: Skyward Sword (I honestly don't know where Twilight Princess goes, it's rather like Breath of the Wild)
    DS: Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks
3DS: Link Between Worlds, Tri Force Heroes

What do you have, Wii U?
Two HD remasters and a multi-gen release. (Multi-gen? Are we beginning the 9th generation of gaming? What is this?)

I dunno, I'm kinda disappointed that we never got a Zelda game designed specifically with a TV + second screen in mind. These new iterations always made use of the new unique hardware (for better or for worse).

Editing … Most of these games were later released on other platforms, I was just going based off of the one they were initially announced and released for. In this case, though, multiple platforms are announced before its release, even though I think it will land on Wii U first (and be "exclusive" for like all of two months). Hyrule Warriors wasn't announced for 3DS until spending a while on Wii U. Still, having a rerelease so soon after the original launch does ruin an attempt to call it "exclusive," you're right.

Editing … I don't see it as a Wii U problem specifically so much as Zelda games taking longer and longer to make, while ninty's console cycles becoming shorter and shorter. Even if breath of the wild was WiiU exclusive it would have been too late to save the wiiu. People actually wanted a new Zelda game as a launch window title.

Editing … I'm not sure they will release it first on Wii U. They will sell more Switch if they release it first on Switch. For example, in america, Twilight Princess was released on Wii first, the GameCube version arrived several weeks later. And it was developed for GameCube.
