What happened off-field was just as memorable as on-field. I remember there being a furore made about how the US was going to handle the tournament, with various sources suggesting that the TV executives wanted the goalposts to be wider to curb the amount of 0-0 games that could crop up, or that the games should be quartered to squeeze in more commercials. Whatever the case may be, I'm glad this alleged tampering never came to fruition in the end and the event turned out well.

Speaking of misses, if Diana Ross ever feels hard done-by her own balls-up, there's always Baggio's moment in which she can refer to in her own defense. :)
