Editing … I did some extra lessons with Google Translate too. My current favorite thing is imagining Gerard Butler in that famous 300 scene yelling "Qué día es el baile?" … I've watched that "300 scene in 22 languages" youtube video right around the same time. I may have mixed up the two things. What of it?

Editing … I struggled really bad at first because it's just structured differently to English. Random words would appear before the first word in English. And then there is the whole male/female thing that we don't have. But in the end when I got it I felt like I'd accomplished something.

Editing … Yeah, I can imagine that this must be difficult for an english speaker; that type of grammar doesn't exist. I think, compared to french and german, spanish is an easier language to learn how to do gender agreement. At least, the way Duolingo gradually teaches it to you. — I struggled a bit about ser vs. estar. Even with → that link it was hard to grasp … until I realized that estar is (usually) more for things that can or are likely to change within one day. That's how I explain it, at least. — https://blog.duolingo.com/ser-vs-estar/

Holy balls I just realised how to correctly use un/una and el/la! It's so easy! I'll never get any wrong again.

A proper teacher would have helped me realise this straight away but I aint paying for shit I don't have to. I'll just struggle through like a real man.

Editing … Not just those but other words too. If a man is tired it's cansado if it's a woman it's cansada. This is este/esta but if it's this ticket boleto ends with an o so it's este, if it's this suitcase it's esta maleta because it ends in an a. It all fit's togetber in a very simple but very un English way that is hard for a noob to get their head around.

Editing … It's actually really easy. I'm still making a few mistakes like it will tell me to say: "Mr Perez do you want coffee" in Spanish. So being English I will write "senor perez"(Mr perez), but for some reason it's el senor perez. I always forget the el. But I think most Spaniards will understand my basic ramblings now anyway, I'm confident of ordering in restaurants, I know days, greetings, all the basic day to day stuff a tourist would need.

I got to show off my Spanish today! Totally randomly it come up and Claire said I was learning it and thrust me unwillingly into the spotlight. It didn't flow naturally, I had to stop between words and think but I got there in the end. 100% on a written exam but maybe 10% on an oral exam lmao :D But I think it's still less than 2 weeks, so I'm still a baby. It certainly doesn't flow like French, that's for sure.

My Spanish is getting there now, i think I'm doing pretty good for 6 days about 20 to 30 minutes a day. I can read and understand quite a lot of basic sentences, I could order food and drink no problem. I'm quite enjoying it too, learning is fun.

I decided to start learning Spanish because we go to Tenerife on holiday a lot. It's far more difficult than French, but I did learn some French at school so maybe that is why, this is all brand new to me. All I could do before was say hello and order 2 beers :D it's fun learning actually, and it's something productive rather than just watching more YouTube crap.

Editing … Damn the difficulty went up 16 notches! It went from teaching me hello, thankyou, boy, girl, milk, bread etc to a full on conversation with words I have never seen. Some words are obvious like ensalida and futbol, restaurant but I am totally lost. Am I supposed to get it all wrong so it corrects me? I'd prefer the app at least give me an example first so I have seen tbe words before.
