Nintendo Switch (ニンテンドースイッチ, Nintendō Suitchi) is an upcoming video game console in development by Nintendo. Officially unveiled on October 20, 2016, it is currently scheduled for release worldwide in March 2017. Nintendo Switch is a hybrid device that can be used as either a tablet-like portable console, or inserted into a docking station that is attached to a television. The Switch features two detatchable wireless controllers, which can be used individually or attached to a grip to provide a traditional gamepad form.

Saved! There are just over 600 demos on the Switch eshop. Meaning I've played over 10 percent of them.
I thought of a method for dealing with demos. I'd have exactly 24 demos downloaded on my console and not play any unless I download more. Then I'd play however many until I get it back down to 24. This incentivizes me to pick and choose which demos are the most important. (e.g. first party franchises... well maybe not so much Mario Strikers, but things like Metroid Dread and Kirby Forgotten Lands)
But I still have the feeling that my maturity has not peaked until I learn to completely ignore every Switch game that isn't Sw/Sh, PLA, and Scarlet/Violet, and to treat the Switch Lite as nothing more than a device that plays those three games. Where's the fun in that, though? I think part of me *wants* to play awful demos. The Switch is a beast when it comes to this purpose.-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … I wish your Switch was modded so you could have the full games, for the same price as a demo
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … sometimes I would prefer having the demo? I own two games that I didn't try the demo for. Spiritfarer and Glyph. For a while I couldn't decide whether to play the full game or demo first. At some point I decided I should go straight to the full game, so I can review the game afterwards, which I couldn't do if I only played the demo. But that seems like a fringe reason.. it has no less to do with online shitposting and trolling than it does with being an actual gamer.

Saved!Lately I wonder if the Switch Lite is just not that good. Sure fooled me, though. I was fooled enough to actually upgrade to a Dialga edition and to upgrade my SD card to a 512 GB. (Very glad I did those things while I still possessed the motivation to do so.) It was only afterwards that my interest started to wane. Over fifty percent of why I liked the Switch may have simply been Pokemon Shield. It's to the Switch what Gravity Rush was to the Vita; Castlevania to the original DS.
That's not to say the Lite is terrible. It's still pretty good or just ok. But going in I had kind of expected it to be the ultimate handheld. Instead it feels like I've bought an Android console that Nintendo happened to endorse. So much indie shovelware. Many games are ported to it as an afterthought. Seemingly /the vast majority of games/ vaguely feel as though they were not optimized for handheld mode. (that or just don't sit right with me being displayed on a handheld screen) Nintendo first party offerings sucking as they so often do, Odyssey being an inexplicable exception. (save for the lack of button remapping in-game, and having A be jump) Battery life. And I noticed that I spend what is perhaps too much time browsing the eshop rather than actually playing. That seems to be a symptom of any console, actually. (The ones that are connected online, at least) Before I set the system down (usually because the battery is getting low) I tend to look at the eshop and just stay there because I don't feel like putting the system away to charge. Weird. What's funny is, I wondered if maybe CFW was bad because I tend to give up on games more easily, but at least I don't deal with Netflix syndrome. Although, I hear Vita CFW still has the homebrew shop and pkg. Oh crap.. -
Saved! In case anyone wants to know why I wrote a hate post about the Switch, I lost a lot of well-earned progress on a Secret of Mana playthrough. All because of a glitch in the software or the Joy-Con drift? Wtf, man. I was stuck in the menu because the controls locked up. It's all Nintendo's fault. Grr...
-
Saved!Okay, y'know what? The Switch Lite casing is a piece of crap. I don't know how a piece around the D-pad broke, but it indeed broke. And now I have to replace the shitty shell case. Wtf.
I mean yeah, the DS Lite had nearly the same problem with the shitty shoulder buttons. However, that thing had fewer parts. Jesus, I hate this crap.
And oh yeah, f*** you, JoyCon drift. (grumble grumble)-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … Wait, it's normal for the DS Lite shoulder buttons to stop working? It's not just mine?
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … Yeah, the DS Lite shoulder buttons can kiss my ass as well. But that system is still easier to reverse engineer, so I'll forgive it. (Stupid shoulder buttons...)
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … No problems with my Switch Lite. I have a DS Lite with a 208 in 1 cart but I haven't been using it at all. Was considering using it as a GBA. As for shoulder buttons I've broken the R buttons on two different original model 3DS'es while trying to replace them. I hate Nintendo's shoulder buttons, they feel like an afterthought. Even on the Switch Lite, the L/R feel like mouse buttons and ZR can be moved around when pressed, which is annoying during racing games. (Not that there are any good racers on Switch, but still..)
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … It appears to be a counterfeit cart with a bunch of games on it. That said, the experience/UI is something that I imagine is ripped from existing methods for launching from an sd card or something, because the browser includes a bunch of folders that aren't used.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … Hmm. This sounds like some elaborate (okay, I'm exaggerating) open-source project that I should look into...
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I've never put CFW on a 3DS but I know it exists. I'd probably be seen as a scrub for opting for the multi cart.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … Nah, it's probably fine. I mean, open source Linux devs are all scrubs. X-P

Saved!A piece of shit hardware. I can't get any wifi signal anymore, unless I crawl under my fridge (yes, seriously). Nintendo made their WiFi module shitty on purpose so that they get more money by selling their LAN adapters. It would have been no problem to implement a proper LAN port into the dock.
I don't have problems with any other hardware that uses WiFi. Only the Switch struggles.-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … The dock doesn't have anything except two USB ports, HDMI out and AC port and it still costs a fortune. It's a cheap piece of plastic. I would have preferred if the dock was optional and actually boosted the power of the Switch...
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … Hasn't Nintendo done similar things, though? I think they had a similar issue with wi-fi on the Wii. They were selling these crappy Wi-fi usb sticks so that the Wii could try to use the bandwidth off of other computers in some stupid P2P connection. Nintendo almost never uses Wi-fi/LAN/any networking to its full capoacity. They expect consumers to pay for that function.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … Yeah, I checked. I don't think any of Nintendo's consoles came with LAN adapters. Nintendo's always focused more on the game quality and the controller functions. They were a originally a toy company, so Nintendo always tries to emphasize those strengths in their systems. They don't understand what this Internet is, man.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … But seriously, every system needs cardboard controllers. X-P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of9GOMM9HPg
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … New OLED model revealed. Has LAN port. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4mHq6Y7JSmg
-
Saved!Came back to this system after a long hiatus. What the heck is this Super Mario Bros 35? Yeah, I forgot that this was actually a thing.
X-P-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I will get Xenoblade 2, wondering if I should get Xenoblade Torna as well or wait until after I've played 2. Also considering the RE Revelations titles. My wishlist is stacked right now.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … Wow, Thimbleweed Park is dirt cheap on Switch. I always wanted to see what the creator of Monkey Island was up to. Y'know, him and his fancy Kickstarter project...
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Tokyo Mirage Sessions on sale. Have you played it? Wondering if I should pick that up even though it's a cross of two franchises I have consistently failed to get into.
-
Saved!DJ_JJSliderEditing … A cross between Fire Emblem and Megaten still sounds really weird, but it did get good reviews. I'll think about it, but I might go for...I dunno...Ghostbusters: the Video Game?
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I started Tokyo Mirage Sessions and it sucks. Forget I ever mentioned it. =P

Saved! The Nintendo Switch is shaping up to be the worst console for me. All it has are Indie games, ports with worse graphics and Wii U ports that they are selling for the full price again.
Let's just compare it to the Wii U real quick, okay? Sure, the Wii U was a dumpster fire, but consider this: it had free online. It was much more feature-complete than the Switch ever will be (advanced statistics, chat, Internet browser, a way to contact your friends, even an online community), it had a MUCH better Wifi card (the one on Switch is absolute garbage) and a controller that was very sturdy. You surely heard about the Joy-Cons drifting and all that? Seems like Nintendo doesn't care about their hardware anymore.
For someone who doesn't use the Switch as a mobile console, it is practically useless. The only game that I really like is Mario Odyssey. Maybe add Pokémon Sword & Shield to the list too, despite the drawbacks (maybe it didn't bother me as much since this was my first Pokémon playthrough). That's it though. Definitely not worth the price.
Gone are the days where we would get a new, GREAT Mario Party experience every 1.5 years. Gone are the days of fun multiplayer titles, like Mario Golf, Mario Strikers, Mario Baseball, Fortune Street. Gone are the days of great Mario RPGs, such as the Mario & Luigi series. Don't even get me started on Paper Mario, that franchise is fucking dead. Even when paying for online multiplayer, Nintendo still fails at absolutely everything related to online gaming.
The saddest part about it? Nintendo is making more money than ever before.-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … ffuuuuck, every time I want to buy a Switch, I just remember--I have to pay for online. Interest plummets to zero in an instant.
-
Saved!Silent GamerEditing … Yea, it seems like the mobility of the console is the only useful feature.
-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … My 3DS needs its A button repaired, but Nintendo's repair services are unavailable cuz of coronavirus :(
-
Saved!HelendlocEditing … It had the potential to be such a great console but it just has no goddamn games
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … Pokemon Shield is a 270+ hour game for me, so the system is holding up well in my book. I have Mario Odyssey but haven't started it yet.

Saved!Insider sources say the new model is a full mid-gen upgrade, and will:
contain hardware improvements to boost AAA support (especially for when PS5/XB2 come out)
perform roughly around the level of a base PS4 apparently
contain a custom chipset--whether this means a new Nvidia chip or something else is unknown
cost $400
aim for 256GB to 512GB internal storage
insiders also say the leak was staged by Nintendo to keep investors happy and to dissuade Switch performance criticisms, and will be officially announced in January-
Saved!Husky WingEditing … oh and they say this version of the Switch has been in development since long before the Switch came out, and that the Switch we have is sort of a demo to see if the concept is capable of succeeding
-
Saved!LizardTaroEditing … My dead uncle who works at Nintendo says that the new Switch will outperform even the most powerful gaming PC and will utilize quantum mechanics for maximum performance.
-
Saved!SudertumEditing … And my gone uncle told that the console will be renamed in Nintendo 4Ever Nr1 !
-
Saved!rockshard PhDEditing … I was thinking Switch is basically a Vita with Nintendo first party support attached. But yeah this sounds like the wishful thinking of a deranged fanboy. $400? Competing with PS5? We're talking about a company who considers NES emulation to be a key part of their market strategy. Personally what's keeping me from a Switch isn't the lack of a juiced up version, but the lack of a US price cut or dockless bundle, or a slim model that's permanently in handheld mode. (or console mode seeing as I actually play on a TV now)
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … I bought one three months ago. Fuck this company forever. Fuck this whole industry.
-
Saved!SandvichEditing … I waited until a year ago to get my 3DS and then like two months later all the good games were out of circulation. Nobody wins.
-
-
Saved!New Switch Model probably coming:
https://nintendoeverything.com/rumor-new-switch-model-coming-in-second-half-of-2019/
Well, that was to be expected. I bet they fix the hardware vulnerabilities above all else. Then they will probably implement a higher-quality display. They should also fix overheating issues and the "dock scratching the Switch"-issue.
