BioShock is a first-person shooter video game developed by 2K Boston (later Irrational Games), and published by 2K Games. The game was released for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 platforms in August 2007; a PlayStation 3 port by Irrational, 2K Marin, 2K Australia and Digital Extremes was released in October 2008, and an OS X port by Feral Interactive in October 2009. A mobile version was developed by IG Fun. The game's concept was developed by Irrational's creative lead, Ken Levine, and was based on the ideas of Objectivism as highlighted by Ayn Rand, while incorporating influences from other authors such as George Orwell. The game is considered a spiritual successor to the System Shock series, which many of Irrational's team including Levine had worked on previously. BioShock is set in 1960, in which the player guides the protagonist, Jack, after his airplane crashes in the ocean near the bathysphere terminus that leads to the underwater city of Rapture.     Ken Levine, you sick weirdo. What kind of deviant makes a game where Z is the default key for iron sights and make it toggle only? What kind of sociopath carries this feature over to TWO sequels? (Yes, I know Levine didn't work on Bioshock 2, but whatevs). What kind of sadist REMASTERS said game and doesn't see fit to make such a simple improvement?

    It's got some cool ideas and neat game mechanics, but I don't like the graphic style or pretentious feel/writing or use of audio logs.

    Taught me a lot about atmosphere building through lighting and colour. Beautiful game, and I've played it plenty of times.

    Falters a little in the second half, but the build up, concepts and atmosphere in the first half especially is absolutely incredible.

    As a single player fps, this was somewhat boring. But the details were beautiful, and the story was grim enough to keep me interested until the climax, which I still feel is one of the best moments in gaming history. Would you kindly? just gave me chills. It was so simple and, honestly, I didn't see it coming.

    After fiddling for about 3 hours to make it work I was expecting heaven to seep through my keyboard into my fingers...So far, just the annoyance of all the work I have to do to even make it run.
