    Hey Favslist!

What's the game you were most disappointed with in 2015? Or is there a game that you expected to be bad, but it surprised you with it's quality?

Editing … I expected Mad Max to be mediocre. Turned out to be a lovely game. Fallout 4's been pretty disappointing, though.

Editing … Well that bodes well for me then :P Because I got Mad Max for Christmas :) What is it about Fallout 4 that's not quite doing it for you?

Editing … The dialogue, for one. Most characters can only be spoken to *once,* if at all. Even "important" characters can't be spoken to once you've completed their one, single quest. The single conversation you can hold with these characters is linear, with limited dialogue options. I'm not exaggerating when I say that you can only speak to at least 90% of the characters only once.

Editing … I thought Rocket League was gonna be just another silly indie game, and it turned out to be the deepest multiplayer game of the year.

Editing … Additionally, the quests are repetitive. Faction quests are just reskins of each other. There's nothing to match Skyrim or New Vegas' long and interesting sidequests.

Editing … Aww, that sounds really disappointing Husky :/ I was pretty turned off from Fallout once gameplay started surfacing. Bethesda games don't really appeal to me that much in the first place, but it seems to have lost some of the things that made Fallout 3/New Vegas good.

Editing … Yea, @Ulty. I was really surprised with how big of a splash Rocket League made. I haven't played it myself outside of a couple of matches, but it seems people are really digging it.

Editing … Definitely Arkham Knight, the stealth and combat and open world are still great but the way you're forced to use the Batmobile over and over and over for everything from solving puzzles to fighting endless waves of tanks to every last boss fight ruined about a third of the game.

Editing … Yea richard, that seems to be a common complaint against Arkham Knight. Maybe I haven't played enough of it to suffer from fatigue, but I've been pleasantly surprised with the game. I was a little sour after Arkham City, and Arkham Knight really blew me away. It seemed to take all the best parts of the previous games (including some neat stuff from Arkham Origins :)) and added a great story-telling mechanic. I have yet to complete the game, but it already feels like a 9.5 to me.

Editing … #Rake was a decent horror game. Which is amazing when you consider that it is a 4-dollar horror game made with the Unity engine.

Editing … Let me know what you make of AK when you finish it Silent, I didn't think I'd get tired of the Batmobile either but I was sick of it by the halfway mark. The driving gameplay's fine I just hate having it forced on me over and over to the point where there's no boss battles you don't spend inside the thing.

Editing … Armikrog is the first thing that comes to mind. Not that it was super bad or anything but it was half as good as The Neverhood in every way except the art and animation.

Editing … My biggest disappointment was #Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. It's one of the best games in recent memory, and it was still a let down. In my opinion the open world was a mistake, and so was cutting the time of the developers, so that there is no proper story in the game. It's a shame really, because the game has some of the tightest gameplay ever.

Editing … I expected crushing disappointment with Arkham Knight but largely enjoyed it. I thought the Batmobile controlled well, I liked using it to solve puzzles, and found the tank battles a fun diversion. It only really became tiresome when it ceased to be a diversion and became the main focus. Anytime the story calls for an epic confrontation with one of the supervillains, a tank battle ensues. At some point I thought to myself "Shit, these tank drones feel like a more antagonistic force in the story than the damn villains!" One element I especially liked and would have liked to see more fleshed out was exploring the islands where you can't call in the Batmobile and have to sneak around the tanks and flying drones. Having to exercise extreme caution in the overworld was quite enjoyable, but sadly that aspect is barely there.

Editing … What I find far more unforgivable is how skimpy they were on the challenge maps/AR challenges. 4 combat challenges, 4 predator challenges and 15 FUCKING BATMOBILE CHALLENGES?!?! It also feels like there's a real de-emphasis on predator encounters in the campaign as well. That's really going to hurt the future replayability for me.
