Like GTA in the wild west.
Story is good, music is great, gameplay solid (horse riding is especially good) and it's very well paced, as you gradually unlock more and more of the game world.
The game world feels big, but really isn't, which is good as travelling isn't tedious and takes you through a great variety of scenery.
The graphics are dated but timeless; don't let the game's age put you off at all if you're into these kinds of open world, action adventure games.
