Bought an air purifier for the basement I live in. Surprised at how quickly the air feels fresher. I should've done this ages ago. Now I just gotta go through zone by zone dusting and vacuuming to eradicate the dust.

Editing … Oh I wonder how that works. I have a dehumidifier but it does not take away smells and stuff.

Editing … It's because we have an indoor ac/heating system that blows shit quality air throughout the room whenever it activates. Every now and then to me it smells like gas, sewage, or pine rot. Here's the thing tho. If I get an air purifier it will constantly be competing with it. Each time the heating comes back on it will undo whatever the air purifier achieved. Not worth it unless I decide to put it in a nearby room instead.

Editing … Oh, sounds like the filter of the AC needs changing.

Editing … I used to blame it on the building being old, but then I remembered that the system is new. *We* installed it. Why would we install something that blows shit air? Maybe it is the filter. (Not sure why exactly as the filter obviously isn't the source of the smell..) It depends on whether the smell was there since day 1. If it's something that started to happen only after a while then I suppose replacing the filters might fix it. But it perhaps a moot point since I have a snowballs chance in hell getting my parents to notice the smell let alone to do something about it.

Editing … The filters need to be changed regularly (or atleast washed) anyways for health reasons. Nasty mold could be growing or bacteria. Also smells collect there and are re-distributed. It's like with a vacuum. If you vacuum coffee grinds you will smell musty coffee even after you change the vacuum bag. The smell collects in the filter. Do you still smell gross things when the ac is off?

Editing … The air is blown in from the ceiling somewhere, from multiple places. I never actually searched for the vents before. I should give it a look. But I based on where I feel the air is coming from, they're located in places that will be difficult to get to even with a ladder. x_x
