As far as biopics go, this one was one of the most entertaining. There isn't any immense dramatic tension in Jaime Foxx's performance, but his spot-on Ray Charles impression is what really set this apart from almost every other biopic in the 2000s. There are some moments when the script just loses steam, but Foxx's charm somehow pushes this film above and beyond.

I mean, consider how much that Miami Vice movie sucked. Yeah, Ray was way better than that pile of crap.

Editing … I once bought Miami Vice on bluray from a thrift store, completely on impulse. I guess it's a good thing I never watched it.

Editing … Well, at least you didn't pay much for it. Unless you want to see Colin Farrell have hot sex in the backseat with Gong Li. Err...that's literally what happens at one point. They don't even give any impetus for doing it. They're just like, oh yeah, the boss isn't watching us. Let's do this, baby!
